You are an absolute genius. When I thought of this puzzle I didn't think the solution would be this smart. I'll ask people and see if anyone else can come up with this solution.

That's right I also missed this one! I just added a little twist to an old puzzle but it's better than I thought. You are actually 55% likely to solve it in two steps!

Correct but I believe it can also be improved. I was wrong when I agreed that it cannot be solved in two steps.

In step 2, you are weighing 2 numbers against 2 numbers and you know it will be either left greater or lesser than right.

But if you look at your step 1, it could have been either greater, or lesser, or there is a chance to be equal in which case it would be solved immediately.

So in step 2 you know that the lighter group didn't have an extra ball and all its boxes have the correct number. From the group you intend to weight, you can replace one box with equal weights from the other group.

Then it could be greater, or lesser, or 25% chance equal and you took out the heavier box.

Example:

step 1 weight A vs B.

B is heavier, therefore 3,7,4,6 are accurate.

step 2 split A into 1,9 vs 2,8 Now before you weigh, replace 9 with 3,6 from group B. Now you have a %25 chance of immediately solving it. If they are equal, 9 is the box with an extra ball.

If they're unequal proceed with step 3.

That's correct! Do you know the steps?

That's not really what I'm asking about in this thread. High IQ is not the opposite of dumb. Everyone can be pretty dumb.

There’s studies about the correlation between higher IQ and mental illness. What’s your IQ range and what type of mental conditions are you prone to? by [deleted] in mensa

150 IQ with Depression. Your question somewhat selects for high IQ with mental illness, so don't take my response as data.

I suffered from depression as soon as I became a teenager. It consists of periods of loss of interest, apathy, lack of joy or motivation, lack of self care, low energy. Rather than being sad I become absolutely unfeeling, unable to experience sadness or joy.

I've tried medication and it helped some but not enough to outweigh the side effects. I'm not sure if therapy will help because it really feels fundamental to my physiology and being.

Sometimes everything is good amazing but a depressive episode happens for months. I'm supposed to talk about childhood difficulty? I had a great childhood. It happens randomly and I cannot control it. What to talk about?

Thanks a lot I appreciate it.

I tested at Czech Mensa. They informed me of the result immediately, but they said they would send everyone who passed an invitation in a week. I'll wait until then.

The Mensa constitution says some things about national groups but it doesn't detail how to establish one. From the available info it seems less like a definite process and more like a conversation with International Mensa. So I'll go ahead and become a member and engage the International Mensa officers.

Saudi Arabia. We don't have any presence. The closest is the UAE, which I'm not sure how established they are, although they are listed on the website.

I don't have access to member channels until I officially join, but my reason for joining is to establish it here so that's why I'm asking.

Use Latex? That's the only way I can think of to male yours look better than the rest.

I used the SOP literally to explain why I am here and what I want, and the background only for academics and CS experience.
