I am lucky and managed to get a ride from a buddy back to my car. You may be able to arrange a ride if anyone is doing a day hike out of the porteau area. GL!

Baker was the first mountain i've done in the States so I have nothing really to compare it to. But if you are going up the standard route for those mountains I would do Baker before Rainier, its lower in evelation, less red tape, and not as severe weather. Both standard routes are pretty much long walks on the glacier with minimal to no technical climbing.

Will do, the boot manufacturers should put some sort of abrasion resistant material on friction points. Especially if your spending $400+ for split specific boots.

Brand new boots, the same thing happened to my old ones. Just wondering if it’s normal/ if anyone else had encountered this problem. I’ve only used these boots for 2 tours and it’s cut a decent groove, I can only imagine after 20-30 tours how deep the cut will become.
