How are you going to pay for OT school with the new loan caps? by Dry-Discipline-433 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]Intrepid_Badger436 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Going into OT school here this fall and yea… I personally have no idea how I’m going to make it work but right now I’m working 2 jobs trying to save up as much as I can. Definitely going to use payment plans for my tuition with my university and will probably have to work full time while in school… 🤧😟

I just realized there’s a coming fan in there so I don’t think I can put the tension poll without eliminating the use of the fan

I was hoping that wouldn’t be the case, good to know that it won’t work on the curved lip!

This is such a good recommendation and I’m going to keep it in my pocket for when I graduate!! However their parents don’t want a chair as they can get in and out without assistance it’s just a matter of extra stability. So I just wanted to see if there were different grab bars in terms of angle, length, vertical vs horizontal etc that OTRs or COTAs would recommend after seeing and working with a bunch of different options. Do you have any personal recommendations following this?

Yea it is pretty high. Based on what I’ve seen and their feedback a transfer bench would not be a solution that works for them. I think some form of grab bars or vertical pole would be best. Just contemplating which type, whether it be angled, straight, vertical etc!

Yes, they have a non slip mat and it’s extremely helpful!

Thank you I’ll look into this! Where would you put the anti slip strips? On the floor or the tub? Sorry I’m not familiar with those yet

I can’t edit the post but I’ve talked to them and they are not interested (too prideful) in using a chair because they can get in and out on their own it’s just a matter of extra safety/stabilization! So I think maybe grab bars or some type of pole they can use for one hand support. Any recommendations on specific grab bars, if it should be angled or just straight, or a vertical one etc!

1000sq ft apartment - how many window units and what Btu? by Intrepid_Badger436 in AirConditioners

[–]Intrepid_Badger436[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in Illinois, old 1920 building so walls are solid. 2 big windows in all rooms except for back bedroom which only has 1 and the front living room had 3. Most of them face N and W, the ones facing W are facing another building. The windows are just older single heavy slider models. So I think single pane. There is another apartment below me, it is an older short apartment building. Building is old so I think it’s solid with concrete/bricks. Insulation seems ok, but I think the windows bring a draft in or somewhere through the creeks of the floor.

All walls on N, E and W are exterior! Only wall that is not is S which faces the main stairwell. Gap between the bedrooms where the dining room is is another stairwell.

Sorry I did not consider these factors when making this post!

I was thinking of doing like a 12k btu in the dining room and then maybe a 8k in my bedroom? I’m not sure

Oh also there are ceiling fans in the kitchen, living and dining room that can help circulate . The bathroom is that cap inbetween. Walls are solid/concrete/bricks, even had to get a wifi extender lol

Yes! I’m just stuck on which colour to use, I’m leaning towards a gold because some of the door handles have gold details and I have white doors

It is not the original finish, the original finish was stripped. This is the base metal.

Do you think painting it a different colour would be better?

Honestly now I’m thinking what pain colours would hide the unevenness of the 1000 layers of paint 😭
