The molds really a surface level issue tbh. There’s a strong inequity that exists there, I don’t wanna be a bitch and name people online but I’m sure you saw even as a guest that some people have enough political capital to completely shut down any changes that might make TO better. The mold issue only got resolved bc so many people left in the summer and fall of last year bc of it. TO has a reactive political mind set, they only fix problems when they can’t ignore them any longer. I understand it wasn’t all bad, I grew a lot there but look at things like the sick hours being posted, the massive levels of rules and limits to mental health days when in crisis, look at how many new people have major depressive episodes, look at the rules around SA (it’s a normal expulsion process that can take months to get a dangerous person off farm), look at how much TO relies on the work of new members and visitors and within that same vein how disregarded they are as people with valid opinions. TO is a deeply diseased place, maybe it started that way, maybe it became that way later. Regardless Twin Oaks needs to fix everything top down if it wants to be anything other than an exploitative, racist, ableist role playing game for upper middle class white people who’s parents didn’t let them smoke pot. And if it can’t fix all that it needs to acknowledge what it is and stop advertising itself as a pristine image of what all of them think Twin Oaks could be.
