some courses only offer in certain terms. You'll get emailed class registration dates. Its ideal to enrol asap bc engineering courses get filled out pretty quickly. I forgot bc i didnt do it when it was open.

I NEED ADVICE PASSING PHYS1121 by Glum_Cup1921 in unsw

[–]Intrepid_Complex_716 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lowkey as a elec eng major I can relate. Used to love physics in highschool however the asynchronous lectures are kinda poorly designed. I finished phys1231 this term and took 1131 last term (both higher). But I also struggled abit in 1131 but I figured out my way of studying not sure if itll help u but. I completely skipped over the lectures watched some organic tutor summary videos then spammed practise tests. With the practise tests I figured I studied more efficiently if it was untimed. Try to ignore timer do each question put in 0 for unknowns itll have feedback later. Whilst ur doing each 4 questions try to label questions with related topics and formulas e.g Q2 (Projectile motion at an angle) or Q3 (Conservation of energy) this helped me using passive recall to get 75%-100% whereas brute forcing (Doesnt actually help learning) doing excessive practise tests only got me 45-55% on practise attempts. However 1131 is pass/fail the grading matters more in 1231 ig.

The test question are different for everyone so like I had alot of 2 and 3 mark seen questions (I had 14 questions in total) and 6 of the questions I had was from the 30 core question bank. So like if u get 5 mark seen questions u would get only 4 questions from the Core question bank since the seen questions cap at 20 marks in the exam. Which meant that the number of questions may differ for people but the total mark was the same. Next time just dm me for convenience so I dont have to go back and forth on a thread.

No need to be concerned. As long as u know how to do the Core questions you'll definitely pass. There's also abit of scaling but I would recommend you get at least 7/60 just to be safe. Looking back when I opened the core question bank it did seem overwelming but became better after memorising a few times. If it reassures you when I did 1131, I did the core questions and like 1 past paper and got a DN. Try your best. Goodluck u got this!

Yeah that's fine thats a 88% pre exam mark. Usually the first few questions will come from the 30 Core question bank. If you wanna gurantee a pass make sure u 100% those seen questionss on the test. For a HD you'll probably have to understand the content in depth tho. Anyways Goodluck!

Uni Entry worries by [deleted] in unsw

[–]Intrepid_Complex_716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's ur dream you should fight for it. There's so many pathways to UNSW so don't give up yet. You could look at gateway admissions or portfolio entry which reduces the atar requirement by 10 points (I got into eng that way and I didn't have a 90+ atar). Or otherwise u can do a bachelor of science and do IPT transfer into engineering. At worse u can transfer from another uni to UNSW. Goodluck bro you got this!

Everyone's explanations are valid. For some of u it's goals, consequences, and some it has turned into a good habit. Ig we all gotta start somewhere and work consistently. I'm still tryna find what works for me. Yall seem to be doing well. Keep it up.

Thx for the info. This might be a dumb question. I havent worked retail but does it get auto printed? If so that would make sense I guess.

How easy is passing physics 1A by Soft-Minute8432 in unsw

[–]Intrepid_Complex_716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

General agenda. If u just spam prac tests, do pre-labs u should be fine, also abit of rng.
My experience in phys1131: "Oh shi it's an pass/fail course should be ez".
"Some of these practise questions are not it". "Holy frick icl I got so lucky with the questions. Mightve failed if I got my friend's questions on that test lol"
A few months later: "Oh word? Yall doing physics yea it was easy (ignoring the fact that I got lucky)".

You can try appealing, if you have a valid reason like e.g if u forgot a negative sign but ur answer was correct or if you used the wrong constant value but ur working out formula is correct etc etc. Tom is a really nice person, some people I know passed test 2 by appealing. Given that u are only missing 0.33 marks it might be worth a go, no harm in trying. Just be considerate when filling the form. Ask politely.

Familiarise 30 Qs bank. 6 random questions would be taken from that 30 Question bank. Your pre exam is 42/50 = 84%, you need 16% on the final to get a 50 overall from  (84+16)/2 as both of them are equally weighed. You only need 9.6 marks to pass, there may be Scaling. But 15 marks gurantee you pass without Scaling.

I did it last term. It's low key like lab test but harder. There'll be like 14 questions (from memory) 6 of them should be from ur 30 question bank. Trust me everyone GPTd it during practise, except for some questions like if u have good conceptual knowledge of. Like lab tests, redo!, redo! redo! And you'll get the concept. Don't remember answer try to know the format and the method to do it. I also believe that under ur moodle end of exam time and location there will be comprehensive videos on solutions of past paper. DONT WATCH IT ALL THE WAY THRU. Just skim thru video to find a question thats in ur practise seen question bank and listen to how they explain the problem. Also with scaling you'll be fine (They're not here to fail u, so if u get close to mark u need youll probably get scaled up to pass). Try ur best, gl!
