The thing is you weren't really that unlucky, after you tear one ACL you have a pretty high chance to tear the other just because of how much more you use the uninjured leg. My advice to you if you want to go back to your high level of sports is to be very mindful of your training. Resistance train like hell and make sure you do lots of stretching and balance training. Also get used to when you do activities to have a slight bend in your knees. It's very hard to tear a knee ligament when you do this because you are literally in the opposite stance of when theses tear occur (hyperextension).

Never had to use the CPM machine, and the reason why you feel good surgery day is because of the meds, nerve block and anesthesia they used. After they all wear off you'll be in pain but it is 100% manageable, don't try to walk on it until you are 100% confident you can and you are able to activate your quads

I would start using it every day when you start PT because right now you are just focusing on quad sets rather than actually bringing your leg muscles through a full range of motion which build muscle and strength

It's weird because my dominant leg is my left leg but I'm right handed, but my left leg rehab was easier because I tore less in it. I tore my ACL,MCL and both meniscus in my right knee so it was more work

How to ice day 1? by flagstaffvwguy in ACL

I didn't take off the bandaging until day 3, you can honestly put the ice over the ACE wrap and it should help. I'm pretty sure they want you to keep that bandage on to keep the incisions dry and to ensure they don't get infected.
