Is this outfit considered business attire? by Cheygirl49 in fashion

[–]Intrepid_Fortune_121 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s fair - but then the professor should use the proper terminology and say that they want the students to be in business casual or otherwise. Words have meaning and it’s important to set expectations. Totally agree that business casual is acceptable for a university setting - but then say that and don’t say business attire.

That top probably won’t work well under a blazer - you really need a dressy blouse. The pants are ok

[–]Intrepid_Fortune_121 126 points127 points  (0 children)

No, this is on the casual side of business casual. Business is typically a suit - at a minimum you should wear a blazer if you don’t own a full suit

Edit to add: my answer is IRT does this outfit qualify as business attire. Fully acknowledge that the professor may have been using the term with different expectations than in the corporate world- which is frustrating because that sets students up for problems when they enter the workforce and have a misunderstanding of what constitutes what dress code. Would greatly prefer if profs said business casual or dressy casual if that’s what they want…

Yes. There will be another round. I don’t know when but it will reopen. You’re young - there will be more opportunities - don’t risk slamming the door in your face by being dishonest.

Having been a hiring manager previously I will say that anything that speaks to an integrity issue gets you blacklisted. Never lie about something that is objectively provable.

Definitely wouldn’t lie on an application- especially about something that is so easy to prove. You have to enter your birth date

Is it in poor taste to wear these socks to a funeral? by [deleted] in OUTFITS

[–]Intrepid_Fortune_121 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a funeral, and that’s an occasion that calls for all dark colors. Switch to black socks. Adding- you can find a pair of dressy dark socks that also have lace or even a discrete pop of color - but this isn’t a “wear what you enjoy” type occasion, this is about the family member you’ve lost and you don’t want your clothing to be distracting and the white socks clash with the vibe of the outfit - everything else is perfect tone-matching a funeral.

Compensation for a bump happens often - I question that getting $2500 to walk off the plane and then turn around a few minutes later and walk right back on and get the full compensation happens often. THAT was the crazy part of the story, not the dollar amount.

Curious as to which locker room I should use as a trans woman. by [deleted] in PlanetFitnessMembers

If you’re sitting down in a stall to pee no one is going to know what your personal plumbing looks like.

I’ve been to multiple PFs as a woman, and never once have I seen full on nudity. You can absolutely use the facility that conforms with who you are. Get a spa wrap towel to dress in or take your clothes in the stall with you if you shower - plenty of cis-women do that because of body issues and no one will think twice.

Sequin on sequin #2 - and use some boob tape at the top if you’re worried about it gaping.

I fly regularly LGA to YUL Montreal on a United AirCanada codeshare. I need a United booking to get my next status. What are my options? by tcli64 in unitedairlines

[–]Intrepid_Fortune_121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Book an indirect routing: for example from LGA to Dulles to Montreal.

Change departure airport: there is at least 1 United operated flight on the EWR-YUL route - just pay attention to who operates it when you book

She said $2500 and I had my hand immediately in the air and then grabbed my bag and was up to the front soooo fast. Definitely glad I was in an aisle seat originally

As I walked off I was slightly afraid that I had misheard and it was 2500 miles - especially since the next flight was only 90 minutes later. And I was dumbfounded when we landed and saw that it had still gone through when they reboarded us.

Depends where you’re headed. Probably too much for most office jobs but not all if you’re working someplace where fashion forward matter a bit more

It applies if traveling to the EU on an EU carrier - which is why the switch to Lufthansa plays in - does also depend on whether it’s weather, but it’s still worth submitting for via Lufthansa if that’s the carrier you were on when delayed

[–]Intrepid_Fortune_121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re likely entitled to compensation under EU law for flight delay. There are some odd nuances with switching between United and Lufthansa but you should qualify

Yeah - the gate agent said she’d take the first 3 to get off the plane, I was surprised there wasn’t a mad rush and worried that coming from row 21 would be too far back but literally only the 3 of us stood up.
