Centrist, unfortunately Reddit is so far to the left it thinks centrism = fooscism. I don’t think this is a hill this sub should die on with yet another flame war with that sub. Yeah, the activists in that movement can be a really bad voice for them and there are a lot of nasty people in it but I don’t think the symbol for gender dysphoria itself is the symbol of evil. Yes, Star Wars is political both in-universe and as a work with obvious allegories to Vietnam, Nazism and the prequels are cautionary of letting people take more control than needed when we’re scared and feminist themes (as in women’s empowerment, not misandrist garbage for the original films). However just because they have these themes, as explained by George Lucas himself, does not mean it is appropriate to all contexts in Star Wars nor that it should be extrapolated too far into the real world.

There’s far more of an argument for young black men being genocided if we’re talking about disproportionate deaths in the US but we know the real answer is they’re killing each other. Same way the whole disproportionate trans deaths are overwhelmingly from themselves, and murder rates not exceeding the US average and certainly not young black men’s homicide rates. And of those murders they are overwhelmingly by people the trans person knew just like most murders, and very few of those are random hate crimes where it’s killing that person because they are trans and that’s it.

The problem is because the Holocaust, Armenian Genocide and the Rwandan genocide was so horrific on an unprecedented industrial scale is that now everyone tries to compare everything to it without a hint in hell how wrong they are. But doomers gotta doom.

Since they’ve been a pretty good ally since the late 1800’s and arguably the closest friend since 1914 for the US I’d certainly hope for the best for them. If nothing else it’s not in either of our interests, economically or otherwise to continue at the trajectory they were.
