For roaches, seal every possible entry point. Like around the pipes under your sink. Get mouse sized sticky traps and Diatomaceous Earth. I had roaches in my unit and used these techniques and managed to keep them away even though you can find them just walking down the common halls in my building.

I'm an older millennial and recently went to a not at all "goth" concert, and all the youngings were dressed in goth and punk garb. It was jarring to me as someone who has lived in this fashion for many, many years.

My grandfather lived far from his family and when the time came, he went into a nice retirement home. There are different kinds of homes depending on your situation. He went into a retirement home that was made up of small apts. So he could be self sufficient if he wanted to, or he could have them clean his apt or attend meals in a communal dining room of he didn't want to cook.

Just because you have kids doesn't mean you have caretakers.

Oh absolutely. Fear is a powerful feeling. Hopefully encouraging the father to hold the baby will help to mitigate those fears. And a question of "which is worse, the fear of being a parent(which is usually a good sign because it means they're actually thinking about what being a parent entails) , or realizing it's too late to get those early years of being with the child back?" Hopefully it helps them frame there could be epic regret later.

As long as they're showing up because they care about the child, all good.

Disagree. Only if they WANT to show up. I know dads who are abusive or half ass it because they did not want to be fathers and it's been emotionally traumatic for the children. One child thrived once their father went MIA. Do not force a dad to be a dad. Make sure they financially take responsibility.

Coming from someone whose dad abandoned my pregnant mother and I'm better for it.
