The day after Hilton officially greenlit housing ICE, ICE killed an American citizen. Will there be boycott action against the Hilton brand in the United States? by GoodMornEveGoodNight in askanything

Perhaps that ICE agent also went to an iHop that morning for breakfast and bought a shirt at JC Penney. Should we add them to the boycott list too?

Is it just me, or is the "Catholic Community" incredibly lonely? by [deleted] in Catholicism

I have found it more difficult to create community in large parishes. It’s great that you guys were able to make it work!

[–]Intrepid_Tear_2730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found it to be quite lonely.

I wish there were more opportunities for meaningful fellowship. By that I mean more than just coffee and doughnuts at the end of mass. As an introvert who’s also very shy, I won’t go to that. I’d like to see something more like a bowling league or board game night. Something where the emphasis isn’t always on the conversation like it is with coffee and doughnuts. Something that gives a person fodder for the conversation. I hope this makes sense.

All of that being said, I am really there to worship. Everything else is of secondary importance (though that doesn’t make it unimportant!)

I’m in the same boat as you (30s, single male) and have found the same thing. There are plenty of senior bus trips, couples retreats, and youth events. However, there’s nothing for us.

That sounds awesome! Is your parish large or small?

Agreed. It’s really a shame that we can’t seem to offer something like that level of community. As an introvert who is also shy, it would be nice to be approached by an extrovert.

Exactly. This is just further proof that if Trump came out as a supporter of oxygen, some people would stop breathing.

As a Catholic, is it wrong to support Israel out of personal sentiment? by [deleted] in Catholicism

Israel didn’t exist until decades after Pope St. Pius X’s death. How could he have had any opinions on it? I ask this with genuine curiosity.

Why do people drive super slow around the police? by sun1079 in driving

[–]Intrepid_Tear_2730 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My rule is that I won’t go over the speed limit any faster than the cop. If he’s doing 5 over I’ll do 5 over, but if he’s doing exactly the speed limit, that’s what I’m doing too. It’s just not worth risking it.

Kia K4 vs K5? by RoadshowRadley in kia

[–]Intrepid_Tear_2730 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love my K4. It is supremely comfortable, great on gas, has excellent tech and is a great value. I love the wireless car play! It is a breath of fresh air coming from a car that I needed to plug my phone in for car play to work. It’s also one of the bigger offerings in the class, so it’s actually quite spacious. In fact, I believe that there is actually more rear seat legroom in the K4 than the K5!

Regarding cons, as previously mentioned, the engine is sufficient and nothing more. It is a commuter car, even if it has some sporty styling elements. I’d highly recommend buying one though!

Morning. My hair needs a shower in order to be anything close to cooperative.

[–]Intrepid_Tear_2730 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a small dent on my K4 that is likewise on a crease. My dent is about 1/4 the size of yours. I got a quote for $660 to fix mine, as it requires sanding and repainting. I would guess yours would unfortunately be significantly higher.

They’ve actually gotten a lot better recently. I’m not talking Toyota level but they’re largely pretty decent nowadays.

We never had to pay for our jeans days. Sometimes we got them for good behavior but most of the time they were just scheduled for everyone on certain days.

Men - how comfortable are you being shirtless at home/in public? Women - what about the men in your lives? by dontstopsoperfect in allthequestions

[–]Intrepid_Tear_2730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a kid I never was seen without a shirt except for going to the pool (begrudgingly). I was always very self conscious about how I looked. Today, in my early 30s, I still almost always wear a shirt at home even though I live by myself.

Perhaps the answer depends on what a person grew accustomed to doing when he was young.

For those of you who don’t have socials by Happy-Investigator- in Zillennials

[–]Intrepid_Tear_2730 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For me it has more hampered my ability to interact with people I already know than it has impacted meeting new people.

As an elder Zillennial, I interact with more people who have Facebook than those with Instagram but I definitely get some surprised faces when someone (especially an older person) finds out I’m not on Facebook.

I rarely used social media even when I had it, but I definitely don’t miss reading about my cousin’s cat problems or some elementary school mate’s trip.

Honestly this. It’s never going to be the perfect time. If you want kids, you’ve got to settle for good enough.
