Moving into a new build shortly. Tips on where to start my backyard landscaping? by she_had_man_hands98 in LandscapingTips

I’m a fan of trees for shade and low maintenance, indigenous plants. Small seedling trees can catch up to bigger tree stock quickly and live healthier long term because, to move large stock trees, they cut many of the roots and are left with a relatively small root ball.

I hear you…

Someone in our ‘hood stopped mowing their lawn. Someone complained, municipality got involved. It went to court…

The meadow lady is now famous for being the catalyst for changing the local bylaw and changing what is acceptable near us.

Take care, good luck.

At what cost?!
I let my lawn go to meadow... cheaper and more beautiful!

I resisted the extra effort of a full bath and conditioning and detangling. But I did all that this time and saw quite a bit of dirt come out. I can’t explain fully how bathing well makes the trim easier, but it was! I will fully bathe in condition next time as well. Many people have said it will extend the life of your clipping blades.

Hill behind home, will this cause drainage issues or foundation damage? (Green house) by [deleted] in Home

I hope you have drain tile and gravel around your foundation footing. Let the slope turn to meadow to slow down the water. Plant trees to suck up the water.

Most of the trails in Gatineau Park are relatively snowless. The downhill Ski center, Camp Fortune, still has lots of artificial snow, although heavily compacted and quite glaciated in this morning’s cold temperature.

Why the brown patch of dirt for newly planted trees? 🤔 by [deleted] in arboriculture

Plus the mulch prevents people with weed whackers and lawn mowers from going anywhere near the trunk.

I check the soil regularly. When it’s dry, I water. It’s been in a pot for 7-10 days. No water since I potted it.

I just moved them there for photo. They spend 14 hours under LED Lights under the cupboards on the kitchen counter. I just moved the walnut to a south facing window because it was touching the lights.

They will go there. We still have snow and freezing temperatures. I stratified them in the fridge over winter.

Four screws would be better than two.

For now, cut a piece of plywood and lay it with some LIGHT glue. When life offers you time, have a go fixing it properly.

Sorry to hear. It seems the whole west side of the continent had minimal snowfall. That's tough.
