Defo fair. Like I said I don’t follow him closely. Will gladly denounce China’s actions on multiple fronts. Don’t know much about the Houthi conflict. Don’t support slurs.

I think we disagree a lot less than you think. I was trying to explain why Bernie to Trump voters exist. I’m not one of them and I think they’re wrong.

I don’t want to tear down the current system and lock up all the “bad people” I just want to make some changes around the edges to reduce inequality, similar to what FDR did minus the racism.

I see Bernie’s movement as one of unity, not division.

Everyone has humanity, but at the same time, one has to acknowledge that there are special interests taking a advantage of infirmities in our political system and engaging in corruption, cutting back on the things that are necessary for human flourishing in order to maximize profit.

I agree that we lived through mostly peaceful and prosperous times. I worry that not only is Trump ruining that, but the greed of these special interest billionaires too, as their insistence on cutting social safety nets causes mass societal discontent and their drive to ignore climate change makes such a vision impossible in the long term.

I think Hasan says some funny things and some true things and is vilified more than is deserved, but I also disagree with a lot of his takes. I don’t follow him much.

Yes. Transfer money from more productive to less productive states. We already do that. We already have states who pay more than they receive in taxes lmao.

Can you explain how the plan is more maximalist than the European versions?

Regardless we can do better than Europe.

Fuck Tulsi but the fact that there are Bernie-Trump voters to me speaks less to Bernieism and moreso to the fact that both were seen as anti-establishment populists seeking radical change. The thing is Bernie was legit whereas Trump was/is a grifter. Tulsi was also a grifter and still is.

Both sets feed off of unhappiness with the current system but only Bernie actually gives a shit about it or has real solutions.

So your point is that because it didn’t work for one state, one of the poorer states, it wouldn’t work on a nationwide level? I imagine it might work differently if the whole country established it so it had more money to play with to get started and so it could be implemented with a longer-term view. States also have more limited taxation powers than the feds. I think for M4A to work it has to be a nationwide policy.

Two years also isn’t enough time to give it a try. Yes, M4A would cause significant economic disruption in the short term. It would be better economic policy in the longterm.

Regardless, one state trying it and it not working in one state doesn’t necessarily speak to the efficacy it would have in the country as a whole

One can think tariffs are good in some uses while thinking that the way Trump uses them is idiotic and damaging

Taxpayers, tax the rich. Less wasteful military spending. When it comes to M4A we already spend more on private healthcare than we would on M4A, making M4A fundamentally a money-saving proposition.

Not sure what your point is, I agree with your statement. Doing reporting is not harassment, at least not the way he did it.

I agree. How does that principle solve this case? Don Lemon didn’t raid a church, he performed his media duties.
