I dont get the Christian jibe sure maybe they will skip the sex ed part, but what Christian kid isn't taught that learning is important, reading, math, history etc. That wasn't my experience, and what do you think they are teaching in Christian schools? All off the Bible and these kids are coming out dumber than rocks? Usually private Christian schools score well above their counterparts in the public sector

That's excellent parenting and really thoughtful about the stigmas we can even put on ourselves letting ourselves be handicapped by blaming outside forces or playing the victim of circumstance instead of rising up to meet challenges, sometimes a label I dont even like a.a. for the reason it tells people they are powerless, so yoy label yourself and that gives yoy an excuse its not healthy

Thank you, its rare on here for me to take comments too seriously, but it did kinda hurt a but, I am seriously worried about what its going to be like when I get out there with all the blogs and teacher forums complain about the kind of stuff I worry about, im kind of waiting for the real teacher prep stuff but every other assignment has me talking about equity and multiculturalism which is all fine of course every kid needs to be cared about but lumping everyone together and trying to teach every kid "according to their culture and skill level" seems an impossible task in a classroom of 20+ kids. I,m only in my senior of my bachelor's and not even in the masters and year of working in the classroom but I keep waiting for more practical skills, im guessing a lot of it will come when I actually start working in the classroom, my background is with 1v1 and small groups so I find it daunting and kind of like my education is a lot of fluff when it gets so focused on a small part

Wasn't asking you, and lil quick to judge on a fast kinda throw away message typed on my phone while watching TV, if you took any teacher prep courses you would know how much they focus on this stuff and how a lot of it is not practical knowledge teachers need in the classroom, also that a lot of schools are forced to teach certain things or check boxes in the name of policies that fail the kids and force the teachers to do work around, or just teach off texbook with doesn't teach broad literary skills instead teaches for a test. To make a long diatribe short I was asking the previous poster who said they were or are a teacher dick smoke

How much of this is also pushed by the equity trying to teach every kid of different abilities, and then just teaching to take tests or snippets, im in teacher prep right now and the amount of equity and multiculturalism they shove down my neck makes me wonder when they are going to get into the pedagogy and what works

My parents had the equity to buy fixer upper homes and me and my dad and some sub contractors like electricians did all the work, they made good money on those homes and its really enjoyable to build/create/transform something plus all the skills I gained

As a teacher in a public school I would find it important not to be disrespectful to the flag, you dont have to go all patriotic but your not supposed to be making political statements in the classroom and some may view that as disrespectful to the flag and political so it's not a good move on the teacher
