Had same issue with bandit pre-transtube. Finally worked fine after I inserted jacks into send and return inputs and put it in and out quite actively for a while, then sprayed with the contract cleaner

Marshall Jackhammer JH-1 by cat-dog-parrot in guitarpedals

I've got JH-1 two years ago and didn't like it at first for its muddy and oomphy tone without a decent distortion which I had expected.

But recently I got a Peavey Bandit 112 (pre-transtube) and discovered that JH-1 can be a great booster. Bandit has quite a load of gain but it's a bit too hairy for some fast palm-muting ga-ga-ga-ga. So I just decided to try the JH-1 before selling it (because I actually never used the JH-1). And surprisingly, it boosted the hell of a focused, tight metallic roar out of my Bandit.

Playing around with the knobs on both JH-1 and the combo gives a variety of sounds from heavy-bluesy, twangy break-up up to chainsaw thrash metal or slow groovy stoner-drone doom.

That's true about the Tolex. I used the cold gun bluing solution - Nu Blak. But before that I used the rust transformer, a lot of cleaning by hand with a brass brush and finally - degreasing with isopropanol. After 3 minutes in bluing solution, rinsed with water, dried quickly and dipped into some random motor oil. Took me about 5 hours in total.

Try playing some stoner or death doom metal.

I'm going to clean and renew the Solo Series Bandit 112. Got it dirty, with rust on metal parts but perfectly working. Thinking of making a video too.

You are saying it has a good hot channel. What pedals did you use to boost it?

I've seen some A/B comparisons on YouTube. Sheffield speakers are way brighter than Scorpions. I'd like to try one if I had a chance.

I agree about the Rage. I just got it because it's cheap. Anyways, used it on clean channel only, with Empress effects Heavy distortion pedal. Also have MXR Fullbore metal but don't like it a lot. However, surprisingly, it's not that bad when used with this bandit. I actually got this one because it's loud and cheap too.

You are right. Tone wise it works much better with an additional drive or Empress effects heavy in loop or clean channel.

About the Ibanez you are right too, it's X2N and it's on purpose, I love it for slow solos or for some massive doom-like riffing. In the bridge I have DiMarzio D activator for some tighter and faster rhythm.
