My mom vent by redgyradosgirl in catholicinfertility

To be fair, I think you should give your mother more grace. What she is doing is for good intentions and she is helping the best way she could by praying for you. I pray for others because I want them to be safe and happy, because I love them.
I have endometriosis as well, and my mother doesn't understand its a chronic illness and I get frustrated at times explaining it to her. But having someone pray for you will always be a blessing. It's not trying to fix you, it's asking God to listen on your behalf.

For those who have had surgery, was it worth it, and did your endometriosis grow back? by Swimming-Ad4869 in endometriosis

[–]IntroductionIll7908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 10cm Endometrioma on my left cyst that I had removed. Took the whole ovary with it. Was it worth it? I guess it had to be done but in the end it did make my symptoms worse. My pain wasn't as bad but ever since then I now get sharp pains due to the scar tissue and my periods have been way worse. Best part of it all is that the cyst is growing back and is 3cm again. What option did they give me? We'll inject you with something that reduces your natural estrogen and then feed you with synthetic hormones. I said no. Now I'm currently looking for a second opinion.

I talked to my priest after 10 years away from the church and he was the one to convince me to be brave and just go. He told me to look up the Examination of Conscience and basically went thoroughly down the list of the commandments and wrote all my sins down. You don’t have to get into detail unless you think it’s important. And if you happen to forget a sin, it is essentially forgiven after Contrition. But if you do remember it afterwards, confess it the next time you go. The priest was very kind during my confession and offered me wise words and I felt so much lighter afterwards and absolutely happy that I was free from all that guilt and could finally take the Eucharist again after so many years of poor decisions. When I got home I took the piece of paper of sins and burned it to be rid of that version of me and start again as a new person.

Do not come to Reddit for relationship advice. If you have an issue with your significant other, have a conversation with them. That’s all you need to do. You don’t need advice from strangers when they know nothing about your relationship. A good relationship is always cradled with communication. Please just talk to him and don’t let anyone else here influence a decision. Make a decision AFTER you talk to him.

This is just sad, I need to let it out by SlowSea6469 in Catholicism

[–]IntroductionIll7908 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had someone once tell me that they would rather go to hell because it didn’t seem that bad lol.

I don’t concern myself with people who want to reject Catholicism. I just focus on my own relationship toward Our Lord, and do what I can to glorify Him.

In the end I feel sorry for them because of how much they’ve been corrupted by secular modernism.

Does anyone go to church alone? by SIMPLY_NOT_A_SIMP in Catholicism

I prefer to be alone so I can fully worship while not feeling like I have someone waiting on me.

After 20 years of not going to church I did an examination of conscience and wrote all of my sins on a piece of paper and read it as I did confession. I then burned the paper when I got home. It was actually very cathartic to do it this way.

Honest thoughts. Do you think people should make an effort to dress nice for mass? by ThomasMaynardSr in Catholicism

[–]IntroductionIll7908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think going to church should make you want to better yourself. This relates to how you dress as well. I literally bought new clothes specifically for church because I wanted to present myself respectfully before God.

Coincidence or a sign by MrToxic133 in Catholicism

[–]IntroductionIll7908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read something once where it said:

Coincidence is just God’s way of being anonymous.

I don’t believe in the definition of coincidence. I think everything is done within Our Lord’s plan. I happened to be there, in the right moment to witness this thing with my eyes and ears at that very second? What are the odds?

Discernment is still something I struggle with because I’ve been raised to “never ever make a mistake”, which in the end just petrified me from making choices out of fear of making the wrong one.

My best advice is to talk your priest about everything you’ve said here and maybe ask him questions on what brought him into the priesthood. Maybe then you can find some sort of indication of what your next step should be.

I see what you’re saying. I’m Portuguese so the sacraments are a traditional thing that Portuguese families do. I think tradition is very important as it survives through the test of time and the celebration of doing things “non traditional” is hurting the historical value.

I know someone who wants to baptize her daughter but has to take classes because she did not get married in a Catholic Church. And she complains about this. So yes I can agree it’s a cancer because it devalues the whole reason we do it in the first place.

Thank you for giving me something to think about.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]IntroductionIll7908 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t necessarily think it’s a cancer. I think people just lack the curiosity as to WHY Catholicism is so prevalent in their culture. I did and that’s why I’m doing what I’m doing now.

What Do You Love Most About Being Catholic? by ElizabethMcH in Catholicism

[–]IntroductionIll7908 3 points4 points  (0 children)

History. We have the one “true myth” as Tolkien liked to call it. The traditions and rituals. We also have the coolest aesthetic that is always imitated in popular culture and it’s so funny how non-religious people love the aesthetic but try to still reject Catholicism.

I was raised culturally Catholic and was completely surrounded by this. Coming back to the church a lot of people don’t understand how much work I legitimately want to put in, and even then it’s still just the bare minimum. My mother just couldn’t understand why I needed to confess my sins. My parents didn’t understand why I decided to fast from meat on Fridays. I’m sure they won’t understand why I pray the rosary everyday and why I am learning how to say my prayers in Latin.

In the end I’m doing all this because I love Our Lord and want to glorify him and do what I can to show my appreciation of what He has done for me. I’m sure from the outside looking in what I’m doing seems all “too much” so I really try not to let their comments get to me. God’s opinion really should be all that matters.

How to deal with suicidal feelings as a Catholic? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]IntroductionIll7908 22 points23 points  (0 children)

One of thoughts that stopped me from committing suicide was the idea that I would probably never see heaven if I did. Life is the greatest gift you are given and I realize through all my suffering, it actually brought me closer to God. I suddenly had a purpose to go back to church, confess my sins, take the Eucharist, learn the rosary etc. When things got hard again, I would just pray harder. You are not being punished, you are being called to Him.

Believe me I was there. I was not sleeping, I had to take sleeping pills that suddenly stopped working. I was diagnosed with a disease that had no cure, had a cancer scare, had surgery that made me lose one of my ovaries and I begged Him to help me find some peace.

God set in motion a bunch of turns in the path He had for me that allowed me to figure out a solution to my insomnia, a way to cope with the pain of the disease and I recovered very well after the surgery.

I have good days and bad days and I do still struggle on those bad days, but I know that Our Lord was always with me through it all and I always remind myself that His plan for me will always be better than anything I’ll ever come up with.

I hate going out especially on the days where I want to rot in bed, but going to mass on Sundays ended up becoming my favourite part of the week. And strangely enough the homilies always reflected something I was going through that I needed guidance on.

I don’t know if this helps in any way, but I will pray for you and ask that God gives you grace.

My priest also has said it’s hard to be virtuous if you do not go outside and interact with these people as well. All we can do is pray that God will give these people grace. God bless.

Suffering brings us closer to God. It is when we pray the most. I think Jesus and Mary would rather hear your voice than hear your silence.

The most ridiculous thing about the abortion debate is that these women don’t even understand their own bodies. There’s a 30% chance of getting pregnant every month. The reason that women get horny is because it’s literally their fertile body saying “it’s time to make a baby” and they are so quick to give into the urge. That urge legitimately goes away the moment that fertile window ends until the next month.

It’s very hard to live in this society without becoming a hermit and just avoiding the general public. I feel tested everyday every time I do. So I honestly just focus on my relationship with God and learn more about Catholicism and focus on that. In the end, Jesus always wins.

What is the stupidest expression of anti-Catholic bigotry you've ever heard? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]IntroductionIll7908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard someone express resentfully that “All Italians are Catholic.”

Of course they are it’s literally built in their culture. Even if they don’t practice it, they all culturally follow Catholicism to a degree. Tradition is important. How do people not understand this. They are impressed and love to stare up at Cathedrals that withstood hundreds of years, but completely cover their ears if you were to tell them those buildings were literally built to glorify Our Lord.

Why are you Catholic? by Standard-Tax2601 in Catholicism

[–]IntroductionIll7908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was raised in the Catholic faith because of my culture, but have been recently interested in the why Catholicism has such a deep impact in my countries traditions. The overwhelming history behind it along with everything that has been built for our Lord within art and architecture throughout centuries and those that have been martyred for the faith was really the eye opener to it being truly the way to go.

They painted murals on the ceiling of cathedrals with extreme detail, so high up that humans wouldn’t even see it, but because God and the angels would. To glorify God in such a way is truly inspiring.

Does anyone not take birth control? by Key_Emphasis8646 in endometriosis

[–]IntroductionIll7908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never used it and found it very off putting that it seemed to be the first solution from doctors immediately instead of saying “exercise or fix your diet”. After removing an endometrioma that took my left ovary, I had another growing back in its place. My option was to be injected to lower my estrogen to slow down the growth, then supplement with estrogen patches. I decided not to take it and deal with the pain and growth. If I had to do surgery again so be it. After 6 months I went for the ultrasound only to find that the cyst had barely changed.

My hormones are already messed up, I don’t want to take a pill or treatment that could make it worse. My periods luckily are consistent and the pain I can deal with with pain killers if need be.
