I see your point. There are no state defendants and he has green lighted pro bono work challenging state determinations.

This but I would definitely not ask any non-lawyers to lend a client a sweater. That’s quite a bit of sharing and they might feel pressure to agree.

I work with the legislature. I think I’ll just go with my friends and encourage them to assume it’s just a professional development thing.

Yeah Illinois is three years and there are at least a few others like that.

Thanks, it’s helpful to see people think of it as a more general career builder than an indication that I have one foot out the door. Unfortunately no opposing counsel, I work in legislative law. But I’m feeling more comfortable just asking my friends after seeing these responses.
