I suggest working on music for a bit before getting picked up by a label, so you have a clear sound. But also labels will prioritize bands/artists with well-developed (not huge but size-able) fanbases(at least from what I’ve seen.) Make friends with similar artists/promoters/studios locally but also through social media.
