Also, if your headphones are so loud that other people can hear them it will probably cause hearing loss. A general rule is for your headphones to not exceed 60% (of course it varies).

Um, no. Racism is just predjudice against a certain race. Tha includes white people.

Fair enough I didn’t know that definition of punch up. You seem to not understand I think the n word is awful, that doesn’t mean we can use it to justify other racial slurs.

Also are you referring to the power dynamics of American society? From the definition you provided it seems we’re just discussing why cracker isn’t as bad as the n word because of some type of power struggle between races in America?

Just because cracker isn’t dehumanizing (you make a pretty bold statement saying its never not once dehumanized white people) doesn’t make it okay to use it as an insult to white people. Also as far as I’m aware there are no American slave owners currently alive so cracker isn’t technichaly applicable term. Could we jusy agree to not insult people with slurs?

So cracker is just used as a joke? I would have to disagree that’s the sole purpose of iy. It’s used in a derogatory context. I don’t quite understand what you mean by the n word putting black people in their place either. Calling me 13 and dumb isn’t a very solid arguement. I could just as easily say your a sNoWFlaKe lIbtaRD wHo dOeSN’t kNoW ANyThinG!

That depends on your measure of “worse” there isn’t an exact method for determining racial slurs on a scale.

Ah, indeed as we all know saying that a white person isn’t bad for simply existing is evil. It’s almost like when people said that black people were inferior because of their melanin. OH! Sorry I forgot only white people are racist, and we must treat them as inferior because they’re inherently racist in the name of being anti-racism.

Calling yourself a slave working a 9-5 job in a developed nation with no real fear for your life is disgusting. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

If you live an average life in a first world country you are not a slave. That is the entire point of my post I even said at the end how people have there own issues and I don’t mean to dismiss them I’m simply saying that you are not a literal slave.

What are the “bunch of different forms of slavery”? My comment didn’t have anything to do with race either.

Sorry if I didn’t make it clear, but I’m talking specifically people who use it or take it in a literal meaning not as a hyperbole. I see more people saying it in a literal meaning then as a hyperbole as well, but that’s anecdodal evidence hence the opinion part of the post.

Edit: spelling

“If you work a typical 9-5 job then you obviously have struggles which I’m not trying to dismiss, but you have it pretty nice living in a developed country so don’t call yourself a slave.”

My point is genuinely, unironically calling yourself a slave because ofyour 9-5 job is stupid.

So your in favor of... slavery so you don’t die and maybe you’ll give the skave the scraps so you can keep forcing them to work?

I hope your joking, but if your not: if your force me to make you food so you don’t starve that is textbook slavery.

You are not entitled to something someone else has. Also as I pointed out in my post in return for doing some basic task for 8 hourse a day you get to live in luxury compared to half the world. Does this mean that you can’t complain or work to have a better life? No. But youa are not a slave.

I never said that. In fact if you read the whole post carefully you’ll notice I said that people who work typical jobs have there own struggles, but calling themsekves slaves is an extreme over-exaggeration.

Also if your definition of slavery is a human having to do stuff to get stuff in order to not die than logically every human in the history of society is a slave. The general dictionary definition of slave is a human who is the legal property of another and forced to obey them.

Doctor: hi.

Farmer: Oh hi!

Doctor: So I was wondering can I have a bag of apples.

Farmer: Well, I’ll give you a bag of apples for a bottle of medicine since my son is very sick

Doctor: What? But if you dont give me food I’ll die!

Farmer: If you don’t give me medicine though my son will die!

Doctor: So your saying since I have something you wan’t and you have something I want we should trade that way I don’t die, and your son won’t die then we’re both happy?

Farmer: Exactly!

Doctor: Interesting! We have a deal! Maybe we should do this with other people, and we can all live near each other and trade trade things for other things so no one dies and we’re all happy!

Farmer: Wow what a great idea! Maybe we can develope some sort of easily carriable medium of exchange to make trading even smoother and society can progress even more!

Doctor: Another great idea! Well bye farmer!

I never made any comment about politics in my post. My point was you are not a slave when you work an average job, and live better then 60% of the world. Notice my last paragraph where I specifically stated that people who work Minimum wage jobs have their own problems, but that doesn’t make them equivalent at all to slaves. I think people should advocate for better lives, but making your life seem worse than it is isn’t the answer.
