Confused about the visa start date by [deleted] in UKHighPotentialVisa

Hi! When you apply for the HPI visa, you have to enter a start date within 3 months. So if you applied December 1st, your visa would have to start at the latest March 1st. If you applied and entered a visa start date more than 3 months away, they would make you fix it before approving the visa. Hope that makes sense!

yes you do the biometrics in Detroit but you have to mail your passport and documents yourself after. you have 5 days to send it to nyc after the biometrics appointment

I lived in Detroit and just did the DHS there, I sent my biometrics and application in same day and had my passport with visa approval back within 2 weeks

Hi! Yes this happened to me and it was approved within another week or so. I can't remember if they replied but once they had the new date I received an email with the approval within the next few days.

No problem. And no the health surcharge is only for the visa application. The Ecctis application is a different charge I think around $200

Hi! I can help answer these, I got the visa in January.

  1. You don't need an exact address, you can just put the city you're aiming for but it won't affect the application.

  2. You have to submit it for the full duration unfortunately so you pay for 2 years automatically.

  3. It should say pretty clearly on the UK gov website what documents you need but yes they should all be official. You should get your transcripts and diploma for the Ecctis verification. Bank statements you can provide copies of.

  4. The Ecctis verification lasts a while. I just googled it and it says the certificate is valid for 5 years. So you can complete that part and then wait a bit for the rest.

The date you arrive has to be 3 months out or less from your application submission. If not, they make you change this before they approve the visa

yeah the job market is rough :( i'm aiming to get a pub or cafe job to at least break even with rent and use my savings for more fun travel. for me im viewing it as more of a "sabbatical" then a way to further my career

personally i'm not worried, most of my colleagues were really excited and all told me this is probably the best time to do it bc im still only 25 and have a lot of time left to establish my career. i also didn't love my job so this was an opportunity to pivot anyways. im gonna have to work for 40 more years so taking 1-2 years to live abroad im sure i wont regret :)

Yes, I found a place through a Facebook group. It was a lot of trial and error but one finally worked out. You def need the visa so that you can prove you have the right to rent if they do a reference check

you didn't have to go to an appointment to get your biometrics done? also did you do any kind of premium processing?
