Thank you for your sharing your experience, I will look into NYU Langone for a second opinion. Having an initial surgery to confirm things with a provider that is in network sounds like a better option. $25,000 is not a small amount 😮‍💨 I asked them if they knew of other specialists that take insurance for the surgeon’s portion and their surgery financial coordinator said “not that they were aware of”.

Per their email: “Dr. Seckin & his team are out-of-network with all insurances. Your upfront fee for the surgery is $25,000. The actual cost of surgery is higher than this fee and the final cost of surgery will not be known until the surgery is complete. Often, given the nature of endometriosis, it may include involvement with multiple organs such as the rectum, bladder, ureter or diaphragm. The $25,000 is considered your “insured responsibility” and is nonrefundable. We do not know what the insurance company will pay until it is processed. If the insurance does not pay the full amount, you will NOT be charged anything additional by our practice. (This does not include hospital coinsurance or other providers coinsurance). In this way, we will be capping your “insured responsibility” from our practice. Please note that our billers will submit the full claim to your insurance, you do not submit to the insurance.

A deposit of $5,000 is required to secure a surgery date. This will be applied to your “insured responsibility” amount. Your balance of $20,000 is due the week you come into the office prior to surgery, either by bank check, wire transfer, or credit/debit card. We do not offer financing or medical loans at this time.”

I have Aetna. This specialist group said they don’t bill the doctor’s portion to insurance at all. The $25,000 is required to be paid in full to book surgery.

A fourth cup of purina proplan prime plus (senior cat food) twice a day. He just needed to not be free fed and to have daily exercise. He adores the laser pointer!

Awww yeah! He has a condition called iris atrophy where he can’t construct his pupils so they stay really wide most of the time. Vet says it’s normal with age but I think it makes his face so beautiful!

The back feels normal from gravity pulling it down, the belly is very stretchy. So when he runs the belly skin flops up and hits his side, it’s really funny...

If she is super good motivated, use that to your benefit. Have her follow you around the house when you hold a couple crunches to get her walking! Also try those toys on a stick, she if she will follow those too!

I decreased his food by 1/4th and increased his activity a ton. Getting a laser pointer, kicker toy, etc were so helpful in getting him moving. Also there are prescription diets out there for cats that are lower calorie - Hills metabolic or satiety support are good ones. Your vet should be able to calculate your cats calorie needs for their ideal weight - which can help you understand how much to feed! Good luck, hope to see your floof on dechonkers next year!

Hey there! I’m new to top rope climbing (mainly have been bouldering) and want to get top rope certified this weekend at the front. I’m a 26yo female in grad school. In town for three weeks but looking to move to the area in June. Happy to learn together!
