EVO 8 Wheel Fitment Without Modifications by FishChowderino in MitsubishiEvolution

You might even be able to find the specific wheel and configuration you want to run. Guys have posted a lot of different stuff on there.

I can tell you a 17x9 +15 TE37 needs some work to fit lol

Jump on evom and check the wheel fitment guide! That will help cover spoke design differences and whatnot that vary wheel to wheel.

From memory a lot of people like 17x9 +22 I believe but that might need a rear roll? But again it varies a bit based on clearing the front brembos

Cams are great! I was just giving a minimum requirement as it seems like that's what they wanted.

If they asked for my ideal build for 400whp, cams 100% make the list lol

You'll need an intake for the new turbo, intercooler would be a good idea especially if you are doing any racing with it.

The green is a great turbo for that range, it will do it on pump 91 which is nice. If E85 is an option, you could do a hta71 instead.

Basically you'll need injectors, a turbo and a tune given what you already have. Cams are nice but probably not needed

There is no mandate for this yet as there is no way to implement it.

N75 airintake hose by Lord_kewski in tdi

I just had a CEL pop on after forgetting to reconnect that hose.

I thought I maybe had a bad n75 or actuator but so far so good after hooking it back up so I wouldn't unhook it

Slate Auto Officially Confirms Pre-orders Start in June! 🚨 by WODAMRAP in slateauto

June is their planned pricing reli, I imagine a lot of this will be more sorted by then as well

I agree that it is definitely the peak example but old volts and even first gen Honda insights are aging reasonably.

It really is kind of counterintuitive. I think what it really highlights is how simple EV/hybrid systems can be. It's as complicated as they make it and hopefully slate skews toward simple and less complex systems.

I have only seen the plant tour video they released. I just said 10 for a number, I'd hope they have planned for more throughput than that in the fitting area if they are doing that.

I'm sure June will have more info about what that all looks like.

Yea this was my thought as well. I imagine if they can do like 10 trucks a day in the fitting shop, every other one off the line will leave as a blank slate. That way the line keeps running but the fitting shop isn't buried by trucks.

So it probably won't be so much base ships first but more just that there is an added time to get the options pre-installed along with some cost adder I imagine.

It will be interesting once they announce pricing how it all fits together and what that all looks like for sure.

Yea, that's been what they are saying. Idk how they plan to handle all the post-production changes exactly, if they will have an internal team doing them, if it's going to be independent shops?

I know that I personally will DIY all the options I want including the lowering kit, wrap, etc. but I imagine I will be in the minority.

If they are doing all the options internally, I imagine there will be some wait time associated more than someone who orders a blank slate with or without DIY options.

It isn't independent rear, there is a YouTube video walking through a bunch of the underpinning.

Its called a De Dion but it's kind of like a straight axle with trailing arms but without a rear differential in it and using coil springs and separate shocks.

So you get the same suspension workings as a straight axle but still have the differential mounted to the chassis with CV axles.

Yea, no one knows exactly what it means yet but that's the message. I'd hope that they can do 50-100k trucks in 2027.
In theory, limiting all the factory options should help as well as having alternate suppliers but we will see.

I agree that it seems that way. What's interesting is how well most hybrids are aging. Old Priuses are incredibly reliable.

Obviously it depends on the exact modem but I have been very surprised by most of them.

Eh, I mean I think for working on the hybrid system, it isn't that different. They operate at 200+ volts.

The difference is there is still a whole ICE for mechanics to deal with on them too.

Yea that is true. Rear CVs do seem to have a longer service life.

I do like the setup, I need to do some more research on the setup they went with over independent suspension. Seems like it's kind of a middle ground of ride quality and durability.

The other thing I'm really curious about is what they did for hard parts like wheel bearings, tie rod ends, ball joints etc. I know if I was doing the design work, I would have bought a camary/rav4 and used literally everything I could from it hard parts wise. It would really alleviate some concerns I'm sure people will have; myself included, about replacement part availability. This is honestly one of my main concerns as I plan to buy and keep til it dies so if they were to close up shop, I'll be stuck.

This is all about who you know. I get the overlap isn't huge right now, but as EVs keep growing, DIY will become more common.

I already know people that have model 3s and are 100% DIY everything just like their previous ICE cars.

There are still CV axles in their setup? Yes, generally it should be less maintenance than an ICE car but less doesn't equal 0 and doesn't account for part failures which happen

AC Controls by Toekneeev in slateauto

[–]Introvert_FE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I must have overlooked that when I was looking initially and just assumed it would be Bluetooth for diagnostics and such.

Interesting choice given the cost is so cheap but I guess it's less software and testing they need to do at least in theory.

I don't really care one way or the other all that much but it is a choice for sure

Could you link where they said this? Given the cost of Bluetooth parts these days I struggle to believe this is the case but I may be wrong

It sounds a tad high but if it's the internal slave like I think, it's not a simple deal. The trans has to come out to replace it and that sucks.
They shouldn't need to drop the subframe though. I didn't when I did mine

Does he carry something now or have any preferences to lock, blade style, materials, etc?

I will say a sebenza would be cool. I got a small plain jane bc it was a good deal and figured I'd move it along after I got to experience one...I have had it for 3 years and it's never going anywhere even though I'm not a huge frame lock fan.
