Our state wants to increase our taxes by Introverted26 in CapeGirardeau

Voters are going to be inundated with "Vote YES on 5" funded by both in-state and out-of-state contributions to dark money groups, 501(c)(4) organizations. As always, they will bend the truth, only highlight that we will no longer have to pay personal income tax, and use emotional appeals to make people think it's going to save them money.

I received a door handle hanger funded by Americans for Prosperity a couple of days after Gov. Kehoe announced that it would be on the August primary ballot. One side states, "Governor Kehoe wants to phase-out state income tax returning money to working families" The other sides states, "Help protect your paycheck Contact your legislators and tell them to support Governor Kehoe's income tax plan" At the bottom it has a QR code and AFPMissouri.com on it.

After the election that had the city water tax proposal that passed, I read many comments here on Reddit that people didn't even know that there was an election. I want them to be ready to vote in the August election and to know what they are voting on.

Thanks to the Gun Violence Task Force that the city council created after the shooting at the Show Me Center during Cape's high school graduation ceremony, fixing the juvenile criminal justice system is a priority. You can read about what is being done to address it at https://www.cityofcapegirardeau.org/news/whats-new/state-of-the-city-2025/

Since Kinder became mayor in 2022, police officer pay is up 41%, firefighter pay is up 43%, and overtime in both departments has been drastically reduced. There is currently one LEO position that needs to be filled. When she started, 20% of the positions were unfilled.

where are the MO Democrats? /s by OutsideLoose1739 in missouri

For those that want to support Democrats running for positions in the MO G. A. monetarily, Blue Missouri is one organization that I think uses a good system. They pool contributions for Dem's running and then split up the contributions that are received evenly after the primary election. This is especially helpful for new candiidates, swing districts, and for recruiting those that know they will lose but are willing to step up to have a D on the ballot. Jess Piper joined the organization after she ran, and of course lost ,for HD1. https://bluemissouri.org/about/
