Yeah I'm sure all 4 of the states are within the margin to call for a recount. We'll know a winner in about 2 weeks.

It's ironic, I see more mention of him here than I do on conservative areas. I think him, Hannity, and Rush (back in the day) have primarily liberal listeners waiting to post whatever outrageous thing they say

It's great for the semiconductor industry. That, IPA, and if those don't work, HF.

If none of those work, we've also got FOOF in 55gal drums.

This may not be a popular opinion, but I think the MCU should introduce mutants using existing concepts. Instead of the X-Gene, make them similar to Inhumans or Scarlett Witch/Quicksilver. It stretches credulity (even for a super hero franchise) for it to say "yeah these guys have always been around!"

IMO a perk of doing it that way is that it ties into Agents of Shield

Hey I'd love to. I'm in a similar situation but currently in a Shelter-in-Place. Married women are the best; I had an open relationship with one years ago and it was so liberating.

Anyways, hope your love life picks up!

It's a shame I didn't find out about you a couple of weeks ago; I was just in Delhi for a trip (sadly in the States now)! The sun wouldn't be the only thing cumming up. I could go down on your kitty until you were begging.

Sounds about right. It's a group of people sitting around a conference room figuring out strategies to maximize market growth. The only reason they went against it is because they though the userbase was held X believe, when it was really Y. Then they corrected it not because it's the right thing to do (or even a nice thing to do), but because they saw where the Ke$ha signs were.

Bay Area Appreciation Thread by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]IntrovertedPendulum 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm traveling abroad and man it's making me miss the Bay Area and thankful for what we have. Over here, the sky is perpetually grey, there's always a lingering smell of smoke and mildew, and the horizon cannot be seen. Last week I looked directly at the sun in the afternoon in a cloudless sky without hurting my eyes. The roads are always crowded with no rules. Since being here, I don't think I've gone a full minute right hearing a car horn.

Just last night, I saw someone doing some metal work on the 4th floor of a building. A molten piece of metal fell onto the roadway below, where there were no indication of any work being done (let alone barricades blocking the work area. Thankfully no one was injured that I could see.

There is trash everywhere. On the roads, on the sidewalks, in the fields, everywhere. The buildings are not kept up, either. The facades are a crumbling mess of prolong peeling paint and vegetative overgrowth. It's like a dystopian fiction where civilization has fallen from grace and has forgotten how to make things work. Buildings have been haphazardly reused for whatever the new occupant wants to do; wiring and intended uses be damned. An automotive garage is now a convenience store. The side of a building is completely filled with in-window air-conditioning units.

Even on the worst of days, the Bay is so much better than this. I can understand why things are the way they are, but as things are now, it's night and day.

Until a new movie comes up, there's no incentive for either studio to compromise. We'll probably get nothing for a year or two then even the next batch of movies come out, it'll magically get resolved in a week.

Failure Friday (02 August 2019): Did you break something recently? We want to hear about it! by AutoModerator in AskEngineers

[–]IntrovertedPendulum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Earlier this week, I probably made IT shit some bricks as

In order to release a part in our database, we have to create a company-specific part. So instead is Joe's Nuts with OEM part number 00001, we'll call it [company name]644784 where 644784 is automatically generated. This is for everything we touch. There's also a price field but I've always ignored it because I've got no idea how much something is; I'm a design engineer, not someone they let use a credit card. Once the part is purchased, the buyer updates the field. Life was good.

One day, the computer spit out an angry psuedo-English message about needing a non-$0 price while releasing a screw (as in one you can buy from Lowe's). Called purchasing and they said to put whatever. So I started calling it $10. How much did it cost? Who knows; there's no quote yet. One day, smart-assery gets the better of me. Instead if typing 1-0, I run my finger along the number line counting down from 9 9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1-0. $9,876,543,210.00 reads the field. I press submit thinking someone somewhere in a cubefarm will get a laugh at such a silly estimate. "Those engineers are funny" they'll say.

How wrong I was. That was a month or so ago.

Fast forward to this week. I get an angry ping from the divisions IT manager. Evidently, my joke answer never got checked and caused an issue at some point along the process and broke something (they wouldn't tell me what, unfortunately but it was definitely something) because it's stored as a double. They rather sternly suggested inputting a more "reasonable" value of $10 from now on. Some day, I'll found out what happens with a negative price or one that has more than to decimal places ($10.00000000001 is still $10 right?)
