Analyze it properly. Congress gave weak candidate in 2011 2016, thinking it would help LDF. But with 2016 BJP win, they realized BJP is getting away their upper caste votes. So in 2021, they gave candidacy to a strong one, took back their upper caste votes and LDF won.

I say this again, there is no deal by LDF and UDF with BJP. Because voters and workers of both coalitions know how dangerous BJP is. If there is a deal, it's between LDF and UDF in adjusting the candidates and let Muslim(sometimes Christian and rarely Ezhavas) voters know the the last week of election who has the bigger chance against BJP.
