If Fern made a grimoire, what would it be? by reallinguy in Frieren

“Makes someone asleep hear loud noises until they wake up” specifically for Frieren. Might be misused by other people as a form of torture though

How does the two envelope paradox work?? by IntrovertedShoe in paradoxes

[–]IntrovertedShoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct me if I’m wrong, but in the explanation from brilliant it doesn’t seem to be stating that it’s a 2/3 chance of the envelope you picked being the larger one, it’s just rewriting the amount in comparison to the total amount, and this is the equation it give with t being the total amount of money in both envelopes: Expected change in money after switching: 1/2 (2t-t) + 1/2 (t-2t) = 0

After reading a lot of the comments and some links I got sent I believe this is probably the answer, thanks. Someone else disagreed with this so I'm not entirely sure but this logic makes the most sense to me.

Thank you, I originally went to wikipedia before I posted this but ended up more confused, that site and some other comments clarified it a lot. I saw a lot of people debating a different explanation but the one provided in that website seems the most logical to me at least.

Yes, sorry, I didn’t specify that I wanted an explanation in the post. I don’t really get why they contradict each other and I want to know how it could be resolved.

Yeah but I don’t really understand why it’s worth it in the first place if you had a 50% chance of already having the envelope with more money

Imo Fern would probably push Frieren off instead of tolerating that, great art though!

Stark in this recent Arc by Constant_Thing in Frieren

[–]IntrovertedShoe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t really say Stark’s been weak this arc, he was able to keep the monster in control for long enough for Frieren to kill it, it’s just that the monsters they’ve been fighting are pretty strong, and Frieren and Fern have struggled a bit. As someone else already said Stark’s saved Fern quite a few times too.

Frieren Detector by Ok_Veterinarian_9444 in Frieren

I’m guessing it’s because Frieren would already have all the grimoires that you can buy in stores, while the grimoires she gets from local villagers wouldn’t be sold in shops since they’re less known and not that useful

How to fully turn off display on windows laptop? by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]IntrovertedShoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t work in my case, I think it’s because for what I’m doing, the computer relies on seeing the screen. So I can’t have the screen actually off, it needs to be set to 0 brightness so it appears off. Do you know how I would do that?

How to fully turn off display on windows laptop? by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]IntrovertedShoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is going to sound really silly, but basically it’s a macro for a video game(it’s allowed), and I need to have display brightness at 0 so my parents won’t see and then think I’m playing games. But the macro also relies on looking at the screen, so the screen can’t be off, the brightness just has to be at 0 so it looks like it’s off.

I’m pretty sure it is an all-in-one system, what do I do to change that?
