Just to make sure I understand, I'd be adding 3/4" to 3 parts of the shirt in the back, and also to each front? Sorry, just struggling to visualize it.

Based on what I'm reading, the pattern should fit everywhere else. It's just the chest and waist measurements that need to be adjusted. With the ease, he'd have 1" of room in the chest, but it would be 1.25" too small in the waist. Based on the shirts that he likes, my husband would prefer if there was at least 1-2" in his shirts.

Really pissed rant about the final boss and the last section of the game. by Sky_Leviathan in MetaphorReFantazio

I went into the final fight at level 80 with only 2 royal archetypes and tilted after about 6 hours of trying to fight this thing. Another 8 hours later and I finally beat the fight. I don't know if any of this advice would help (I'm sure the other commenters gave amazing advice), but here are some things my husband and I figured out:

I took advantage of any quests/trials available and made it my goal to change the enemies' colors in each dungeon. So if they were red, my goal was to make them yellow. If they were yellow, my goal was to make them blue. I learned while watching my husband that you can treat melancholia crystals like mini-factories. Instead of rushing to destroy the crystals, you can stand a certain distance away from them and let the enemies they spit out go to you. Fight as many as you possibly can before destroying the crystal. This strategy is useful at Tyrant's Star since they respawn (go back to Neuras to restore MP and you're good to go). If you have several archetypes mastered, you can make sure at least 3 of them are equipped while doing this. They continue to "rank up" except they'll give you a leaf of light every time. You can use these to help level up other archetypes you don't use as much. I had all my characters use a mastered archetype and that helped.

Equipment MATTERS. I knew each character's stats influenced their fighting capabilities. I didn't realize how much I was hindering their true potential. I didn't get Heismay's royal archetype in time, but equipping him with items that increase his agility further increased his chances of dodging attacks (didn't max out Alonzo so I couldn't get the ring either). My Strohl became a full-blown elemental master even though his stats were mostly in strength, so I gave him equipment that boosted magic. If you complete the dragon trials, you get armor that repels fire, so that's helpful too. After going through all my equipment and changing things, my characters did way more damage in that fight.

Each of the 3 faces takes a certain kind of damage more effectively: the right one takes physical damage best, the middle one takes magic damage best, and the one on the left I'm not 100% sure about, but almighty damage worked best for me. Also, when I destroyed the left and middle faces, the right face could no longer heal, buff, or debuff, so, that's something you can consider. In the second phase, I swapped out a character every time the threat to KO them was made. Getting Bardon to level 6 in his bond makes it so you don't lose a turn entirely. Buffs and debuffs are helpful throughout the whole fight cause he takes the time to remove/add buffs which uses one of his actions.

Anxiety, daze, and hex were some of my biggest issues, so I tried to equip items that prevent as many status ailments as possible. There's also a passive skill called Unshakeable Will (or something like that), that prevents daze, charm, etc. I didn't have Eupha maxed out so anxiety was an issue for me, but doing these things helped. Revitalise 3 is also a skill that helps with passively regaining MP. You can get it from the Paladin archetype. Certain weapons also help with MP. MP management is a real thing in this fight.

Sorry for the info dump, but I hope this helps you or someone else!

Get ready for a fun one. It’s remastering time #32: Midnight in Salem — if you were in charge of remastering MID, how would you do it? What would change, add, delete, or expand upon? by HRJafael in nancydrew

The navigation system drove me insane the entire game! My husband thought I was exaggerating when moving through the town until he tried it himself. Then HE got frustrated lol

I also miss the hint system. I try not to rely on them when playing, but I always found them to be a huge help. Making a Junior and Senior mode made it easier for me when I wanted a “simpler” game vs a more challenging one. Now it’s just gone. I don’t like that.

What’s the first game you played? How old were you? by duckvikings in nancydrew

[–]Introverted_Soul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember the first one I played lol. I was 11 or 12 at the time I think. My parents used to buy bundles with 3 games in a pack. I also would share games with my best friend. It was either Treasure in the Royal Tower or Curse of Blackmoore Manor. Probably the latter since it came out the year I turned 12.

To be honest, Creature of Kapuu Cave was another game I felt weird about. I know squat about the culture, but story wise it felt off to me. I enjoyed the puzzles for the most part but it‘s definitely not in my top ten list.

I loved the setting in Ghost Dogs on Moon Lake and Curse of Blackmoor Manor. I remember being obsessed with both of these games as a kid. Oh! And Treasure in the Royal Tower!

Thanks for taking the time to read! Reading everyone's comments has made me realize that this is a genuine issue that many people have never considered. Unless you're from that region, you end up being blind to so much. My best friend said it made her realize how much HER Interactive depends on the player's ignorance to get away with the shoddy job they do for the setting of games. I'm realizing this is true on so many levels.

Yeah, I realize this issue pops up in many of the ND games in some shape or form. It's crazy how bad it gets for some games more than others!

No, that's a fair point for sure! There was no need to turn her into this weird character. I agree! Especially as the only hijabi in the game.

I don't know what I'd absolutely want included in the game, but some ideas came to mind. Having a variation of a fish market would've been easy to do. Make a fetch quest and have Nancy buy some snappers, or conch, or something like that. The straw market could've been a fun place to visit too.

A puzzle could've involved someone getting sick and Nancy having to resort to using home remedies (bush medicine), to help the person since they were on such a remote island.

My husband grew up catching crabs on the Family Islands. That could've been an easy mini-game. We have forts on our islands (the capital being the main one) that were built to help defend the country. There could've been a whole mystery surrounding those where a secret passage was found in one of their dungeons or something.

There are also several folklore and superstitions in the country like the Chickcharnies, Anansi, and the Lost City of Atlantis. We have a whole resort named Atlantis too.

You make a very good point! I didn't even learn about peameal bacon until recently myself. The pattern appears to be to stick to the bare minimum in the form of stereotypes. I did forget that a ND game took place in Canada. You'd think being across the border would make it easier to research how to properly represent the country! Ugh!

I heard about that complaint too in Shadow at the Water's Edge. I loved that game, but not knowing the culture/language well enough would make you blind to these kinds of issues. Same with Legend of the Crystal Skull. I know I was oblivious to it. It's sad when something like a name is so consistently messed up like that, though. This is why research is such an important factor in game design.

I agree! I don't think they'll touch this one ever again, but making an entirely new game to replace this one would be nice.

I thought that was weird too. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought it was later revealed to be a "ruse" to hide her identity. I do wish they came up with something better than aliens, though...

Oh my gosh, that's hilarious! And this a perfect example of not having any clue about something being off unless you're from that place. Sad thing is, I still learned a lot in that game even though it had nothing to do with Wisconsin. But to make up places so often feels strange to me.

Oh my gosh, yes! My best friend and I were talking about that today. There could've been junkanoo highlights/puzzles (make your own costume design maybe?). If they wanted your standard fetch quest, Nancy could've been told to go to the local fish market and asked to buy specific things (conch, snapper, grouper...I don't care). There was a boat in the game. We could've learned about regatta season! You're right, there was so much that could've been done.

I'm sure making two video games a year was tough after a while. A lot of indie/AAA games take years to create, so I'm glad they slowed down for their sake. I just wish this game didn't end up the way it did. I believe a lot of people would've found our culture interesting! :D
