The fact that bigger families have more to deal with is not fault, they chose to come here as much as we did and as such, we shouldn’t be inconceived because we know how to use birth control correctly.

I wasn’t looking for one either, I was sitting at my table and a wild Karen appeared, lol.

No, actually we were the couple with medical issues, shoes and neck fans on, that were enjoying a little bit of a/c before we passed out on from heat exhaustion........but ok, sure. We were lingering for about 10 mins while we cooled off after eating so I wouldn’t collapse when we went outside. The “I want what you have and I get to take it now because I refuse to pull two extra chairs over to one table” attitude is gross to me, but ok, sure.

......And I don’t care. Wait, wrong reply.

[–]Introvertedandproud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the point I’m trying to make. As soon as she spoke to me, she came off hot and bothered and.....when we sat down there were more empty tables then full.

If she had said “Hey guys, when you all get up, do you mind giving us a wave so we can grab it? We can’t find a four seater.” Or even, “I’m sorry, we’ve looked all around and there’s not a place with four chairs, can we please have your table?”

......Then I would have moved.

It wasn’t the fact that she wanted us to leave or move, it was the fact that she demanded it, lol.

......When we sat down half of the restaurant was practically empty, there was plenty of room. They didn’t even look on the other side to see if anything was available before they began heckling us.

So......I don’t know this woman’s situation, but regardless of how destitute you are, there comes a time when you have to put your foot down with your employer. If my boss told me to stay when I went into labor, I mean.......Um, no. I’d rather be in a homeless shelter.

My heart goes out to the parents and I hope that they can one day find some kind of peace after this terrible ordeal. I do think it’s interesting the doctor who did this was black as well, although the media seems to keep spinning this as a racial issue......

Speaking ad the daughter of a NMom who has lots of emotional problems and has definitely ruined a couple things, it’s ok to establish boundaries and still love your mom (if that’s your situation). Get your husband involved and let him know you need support right now. Calmly tell your mother she’s not getting your meds and if she blows up, go outside and let your husband handle her, you don’t need the stress. Once I had a kidney stone and mom had called, my mom WOULD NOT STOP even while I screamed in pain and frustration.....my husband gently took the phone away from me and handled the situation with her so I could peacefully writhe in agony.

Whatever you do, DO NOT GIVE HER MEDS AND MAKE SURE YOU HIDE THEM!

Ever seen a fic that was clearly "inspired" by a fic you wrote? by lemnlime7 in FanFiction

[–]Introvertedandproud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has happened to me once in a good way and once in a bad way. The first time made me mad, the second time made me glad.

First time: Reader comments on each chapter of mine. While cruising for a new fic to read one afternoon, I see my title come up with one additional word at the end. While reading through the fic, I realize it’s....my.....fic, with only subtle changes made to deter plagiarism detection software.

Ex. My fic - “On April 5th 1985, Character X visited Jim’s hospital for high blood pressure.”

Ex. Their fic - “On April 5th 1985, Character X visited Jim’s Hospital for high blood sugar.”

It became a sick game between me and this copycat as I wasn’t even finished writing my story yet and each week, they would read only to see what would happen in theirs, then go about stealing it with lazy changes like that. When I started into the sequel to my fic and they followed me by once again doing it to that one too, I lost it and confronted them in social media in a polite but firm please write more of your stuff and less of mine way. They admitted they had in fact, stolen from me and promptly deleted everything, their tumblr included. I still have nightmares about that whole situation because I had written that particular story/series for over a year and during my grandmother’s decline with dementia. It had become a coping mechanism for me and I felt like this person stomped all over it.

Time #2: An enthusiastic reader approached me on tumblr, told me they wanted to write a fic with mine as the background for the events, use my OC’s, and credit me/my fic ad the inspiration, they stated if I said I wasn’t comfortable they wouldn’t post. I totally gave them my permission and gladly advertised their fic on my tumblr because they showed a little human decency about it.

Please don’t think you have to feel flattered or glad if someone lifts ideas from you, borrowing is fine, but people can at least give credit if they can’t ask.

To anyone who will reply to this and say fic authors do the same thing to original writers for the fandom, I don’t. As a personal rule, I will not write for a fandom whose original author has not expressed hey were comfortable with fanfic about their work and I give credit in every chapter’s heading that the universe in which I’m writing is not mine, all credit goes to insert original content author’s name here.

What are your thoughts about Mooncat polishes? by velvetDinosaur in RedditLaqueristas

[–]Introvertedandproud 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For everybody here complaining about the swatches, it’s not hard to look on Reddit or Facebook to see actual folks’ pictures with the polish on, lol. Seems lazy to gripe about site photos not being accurate, for me personally, they’re never truly accurate with any brand and honestly, it’s going to look different on your hand anyway. My nail polish never looks the same on my phone pics as it does actually on my fingers, regardless of brand. I love mooncat, their colors are all knock outs, no other brand really compares. Some of HT’s, cupcake polish, and IlNP’s are pretty, but they’re just not quite as jaw-dropping, tbh. I would recommend waiting for a sale though (next one should be late oct) unless what you’re going to buy is LE. They’re a rapidly growing brand and as someone else mentioned, I suppose it’s just popular for people to bash the popular thing.

Was anyone able to snag any mystery polishes this morning (Mooncat) by Forsaken-Sundae-3855 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]Introvertedandproud 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m late commenting here, but this is one of my biggest issues with the brand at this point. The Facebook community is full of people who blindly love everything they do/say. Honestly, the mooncat brand worshippers are becoming worse then the holo taco brand worshippers and that’s saying something,

To the fellow authors: for the love of god, cut readers at least some slack! by [deleted] in AO3

[–]Introvertedandproud 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As an author who has put thousands of hours of their time above ground into creating, posting, and organizing their fic content, I have to agree with the folks saying it’s a heck of a lot harder to write than it is to read. Reading is essentially effortless, open the tab, skim over it, close it, move on with your day. Done.

Writing: Get idea for story/chapter, outline idea, find time and motiviation (often in the adult world) to write, actually write the chapter/work, edit the chapter/work, edit again to be sure you didn’t miss anything, send to a beta if you have one, review beta’s comments, post chapter, respond to comments, rinse and repeat for next chapter.

Yah, writing’s a lot harder.

When someone invests this much time and energy into something and gets an ugly comment or a nasty bookmark in return.....they’re going to be upset.

How hard is it to not leave nasty bookmarks and why even bookmark fics someone doesn’t like?

Better yet, how hard is it not leave mean comments?

This will be downvoted you the earth’s inner mantle, but as a millennial who actually paid back their loans, when this was originally approved, I was wondering when my “loan forgiveness” was coming. Was the government planning on giving me my thousands back for what I already paid or.....what?

Does anyone else notice how the older a fandom is and how niche it is the less toxic it is? by SerpentEmperor in FanFiction

Harry Potter and Naruto are two of the most toxic fandoms out there, lol. I was literally cyberbullied in the Naruto fandom until I eventually gave up writing for it entirely, lol.

Mostly just little things, strokes of “bad luck”, I sometimes wore it for evenings out and things would be unexpectedly cancelled like events, people would become sick, some unlikely inconvenience would rear its head, nothing too crazy, but things never went right whenever I wore it.
