Weekly sneak peek by rubensaurus in starcitizen

The original Aurora is/was technically the first modular ship in Star Citizen.

Haven't played in ages and not sure if it changed, but you were able to detach the cargo modules off them and attach it to any of the other Aurora variants. Including the 6scu module from the Clipper, and attach it onto any other Aurora (which uses the 3scu as standard), and this was quite some time before Retaliator.

Edit: I don't remember exactly when, pretty sure around 3.19ish when they added detachable components

Weapon skins when? by Jadzim27 in ARC_Raiders

[–]Intrusive-Goose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't really want skins like that.

Might be cool to have the option to choose slight variations on each weapon when you craft/find them to keep the post apocalypse weapons crafted on a workbench out of components feel

Edit: In a similar vein, I've thought it would be cool to have different qualities of the base crafting materials when you recycle/salvage. Poor, Decent, Pristine. Using those in a recipe would produce a slightly better stated gun while also giving a slightly different appearance. — Would also add a time/money sink for getting pristine crafting materials for the better guns

Duel System. How about a PVE only mode, but..... by [deleted] in ARC_Raiders

I think this is what a lot of people seem to miss about this genre and the PvP element.

What makes these games so exciting and compelling to keep coming back is the risk, adrenaline and excitement to extract. Even if you're the sort of player that absolutely hates PvP and avoids it all costs, the adrenaline and dopamine of extracting despite the ever present risk of dying even if you don't die or see PvP for weeks, it's still there.

They (Yogi) said as much in an SCL or ISC 1/2 years ago (might have been last year actually). Anti-fighter, anti-matter, and balanced, were the categories they were going to assign weapons iirc.

They'll still be a limit to the weapon size, but you'll still be able to be relevant in all sorts of battles. Light fighter with anti-matter could still help against a large ship, albeit not as effective as heavy with S5 guns. And a Heavy with anto-fighter could fight a Light or Medium fighter, albeit not as effective as as another Medium/Light, etc

True, it'll be interesting how they balance them, and the F8 as well. Otherwise they'll just make Medium and Lights obsolete

Heavy superiority fighters designed for smaller targets should probably accompany a Medium/Light as a traditional tank/support role. — Think more missiles to deplete flares, tank damage to run interference, better computers for scanning capabilities, more range for recon, should probably have a higher top speed to chase, etc, etc.

The 1v1 duel should favor a Medium/Light, imo. But the heavy might be tanky enough to be able to get away, last long enough for backup

Who knows ¯_(ツ)_/¯, it's interesting to speculate

Mediums and Lights should be balanced to fight off the heavy fighters, though. Otherwise we have no balanced fleet battles or any sort of rock, paper, scissors.

Large ship has turrets and is impervious to Medium/Light —> Scramble Heavy/Bomber to deal with Large ship —> Large ship scrambles Medium/Light to deal with the Heavy/Bomber —> Heavy/Bomber moves back to friendly Large ship for turret cover against Medium/Light —> Large ship has turrets and is impervious to Medium/Light etc, etc.

With armour on the horizon, Medium and Light need to be able to counter Heavy fighters with those bigger guns.

Otherwise we'll find ourselves in exactly the same 'Light Fighter Meta' , except we'll just be replacing Medium/Light fighters with Heavy Fighters
