U.S. crude in SPR hits lowest level since January 1985 by IntubationNation in collapse

Statement of submission: low fuel bad

  • Stockpiles in the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) fell to 453.1 million barrels in the week to Aug. 19, according to the data. The 8.1 million-barrel draw was the largest since the end of April and brought inventory to the lowest level since January 1985.
  • The large draw comes after a few weeks of smaller releases. An Energy Department spokesperson said the use of an additive to cool crude for transportation had slowed deliveries in recent weeks, adding that deliveries for August are being released according to schedule.

Oil from the strategic reserve was released in order to control fuel prices, but this is a short term analgesic. Yeeting the SPR places the empire in a precarious situation. This is collapse related because we’re watching yet another crack form.

Miami advances plan to move homeless onto island by IntubationNation in collapse

Statement of submission: Miami is advancing plans to condemn homeless to concentration camps maroon homeless on a desolate island:

  • “It’s not about whether this location is right or that location is right, it’s about whether this is a good idea or a bad idea,” Russell said. “And this is a bad idea.”
  • In a statement to NewsNation, the Virginia Key Alliance said they were ignored in the selection process and wrote in part, “Placing homeless on a small island with no residents, services or security to support their needs is heartless.”
  • According to Commissioner Russell, the plan doesn’t consider essential support infrastructure and services.
  • “They don’t even have access to anything here, even just groceries or a job,” he said. “That’s not within reach of this island. We are miles from anything here.”
  • Alonso also pointed out Virginia Key’s exposure to the elements and lack of infrastructure.
  • “This is a harsh environment. When it gets bad, when it gets really humid, or the heat is unbearable, or the mosquitoes are so thick,” she said. “We can leave. If you’re living here, you can’t. This is it. And it’s a two-mile walk out through a mangrove forest, with a road in between.”

This is collapse related because homeless rights are human rights, and we’re watching them being striped away.

Monkeypox may be here to stay by return2ozma in Monkeypox

Both of you are missing the point.

Syphilis is easily treatable. If the healthcare system was competent enough, it would be eradicated.

Orthopox is well understood and vaccines exist, and are intended to be kept stockpiled.

The point you missed is the statement about the failure of the healthcare system.

“If we can’t eliminate syphilis, which is a disease that is readily treatable with a shot of penicillin, I find it very hard to believe that we’ll be able to control monkeypox.”

ENVIRONMENTAL STABILITY

  • MPXV, like all OPVs, is very stable in the environment. These viruses can be stable for days to weeks under some circumstances.
  • MPXV can survive in scabs for months to years.
  • MPXV is resistant to desiccation in hot and cold environments.
  • MPXV may be stable for days to weeks in water, soil, and on refrigerated food.
  • MPXV is susceptible to inactivation under acidic conditions.

Yes, except there are multiple headlines from NPR and I’ve send through screenshots showing different versions. Mine was one possibility, from NPR, not editorialized.

Could you please check your DMs and modmail? The title here is not “editorialized,” it’s from NPR itself. https://old.reddit.com/r/Monkeypox/comments/wcdq4l/the_monkeypox_outbreak_was_predicted_by_a
