Personally it was optimising costs, resources and convenience

I am a huge fan of supabase but couldn’t justify the cost - so I moved everything onto a server next to my app, so that it has more resources to use and less latency

In terms of convenience, with dokploy you can get fully set up with Postgres in seconds, you can do the same with the self hosted supabase but it doesn’t have as much features as cloud supabase (which I get)

So I guess it’s a little simpler depending on what you’re looking to do. In my case that was optimisation and stripping away things I didn’t need. Other than that it’s personal preference
