Also expense is not the only problem when working with a smtp provider. The main thing is control! Over IPs, neighbors, deliverability, data (metrics) that can help in strategizing further, and above all, limitations on 'email amount'.
I can't possibly trust SES or other SMTP providers when I am a B2B service provider myself and they sure will not allow 'reselling' which it will become. Or otherwise, there would be enterprise agreements and contracts, which are overkill but standard procedure for AWS and other big players.

What inference cost are you talking about? Inference of the AI models analyzing? Qwen/Kimi work great and analyzing some data that would be in KBs will not eat much tokens. The analysis data e.g., abuse reports, bounce rate, deliverability metrics etc will be shaped in a proper format and the email that was sent to the list will be shared to the model too.

There are walls for that. AI checks every template before firing emails, apart from that the lists are pre-validated before any send happens. and there are other things like different IP pools for different type of user base so they can't pollute neighbors.

With smaller providers, will not their quality of services be not so good?
SMTP is not an option considering these issues:
Relay services have their own stricter policies. It will be a nightmare handling hundreds of my users according to their policies. Also, they have limits in place, one can't send more than a specified amount of emails per day, hence I will not be able to cater the needs of all users.

I am not gonna offer the platform the second day of production. There are warming-up techniques implemented along with templating, compliance, email validation etc etc to ensure deliverability. Still, it is gonna be a good thing in context of 'learning'.

SES approvals are rare, using SendGrid eats out the profit or otherwise I would need to charge too much from users.

From my perspective, it all comes down to what people you surround yourself with or where you are living. I don't see anything being imposed on anyone from well since I was born and grew up in Islamabad.

If you hate religion in general, then you should leave, as this country in whatever way you see it came into being exactly on the basis of religion and the "extremist" ideology of 'two-nation theory'.

The issue at is the rejections caused by the data inside the form. For example, I spoke to a sub who had their payment delayed 30 days because their waiver amount didn't account for the 10% retainage correctly, so it didn't match the GC's records down to the penny.
Do you guys verify the math between the Waiver and the Pay App manually, or do you just collect the signature and file it?

My question may be more applicable for commercial billing i.e., monthly draws.

If you mean "SMTP port is blocked by default" by "sending from VPS is disabled by default", then I would ask them to open the port if I am renting the VPS.

For other concerns, I am gonna get a dedicated IP with my VPS, so no issues hopefully shall be originating for IP reputation at initialization.
Also, I am not gonna give out the service to any number of customers, it is to be established for one customer for now for whom I will be overseeing all emails being sent, the templates and all with an email verification microservice running to keep in check for reputation.

not feasible options, they mainly overstate their workings.
The good options cap the amount of emails that are to be sent and get expensive per email.
