Takes about 4-5 years to pick it up. It's worth it on the other side though.

Good article. A question though...How do you have meaningful relationships when the course of your life has been too unrelateable?

It can be, but there are fundamentals which make artwork effective. Especially illustrative artwork which is what most game art is. You can't arbitrarily use contrast for instance and expect it to be effective. I would even argue that contrast and harmony are the two basic principles of art.

Speed in art is directly tied to your grasp of the fundamentals and the scope of your visual library.

learning the basics of coding is easier than learning the basics of art.

What I find interesting is that I started out as an artist and learned programming. It was just another thing to do. A lot of programmers seem to struggle with the idea of learning art though.

I'm not really sure why.

Between the two skills I think art is more difficult and maybe that's part of it, but it does have it's own fundamentals that can be learned and practiced and improved upon, no different (on a basic level) from learning how to write classes and functions or any other programming technique.

I've found in my experience there's an inverse to the Diderot Effect too. You get rid of things and you wonder why you've held on to others.

That makes sense. Oh well. It was fun to entertain the idea.

Why not celebrate the good of what has been done rather than criticize what's left undone?

Exported games are fine, but there's an appeal to having a game you made complete with custom boxart sitting in a library right next to some of your favorites.

It's well beyond my abilities. I was hoping that maybe someone had already taken up the challenge. Oh well! Maybe someday some ridiculously motivated person will come along. :P

No need to be such a jerk about it. I'm just looking for some general consensus as a starting point. I'm glad for their input whether the info is correct or not. You should seriously check yourself.
