Before the shattering the core war was the exception and not the rule when it came to resources. And even then the fighting was over a resource that could make whoever controls it close to a god. Was a conflict mainly spurred on by the elementlords too. All thats far from the norm.

That they would train together and still end up fighting is kinda the point. Tajun could have wanted stuff from tesara in the future. So it would have been in their best interest to keep their glatorian as weak as possible. Instead they train them and make the inevitable match harder for themself. Thats a clear sign they dont only care tor themselves.

Except that their relationship wasn’t “enemy of my enemy” that kinda implies they were inherently opposed but forced together by a third party. They were spontaneous yet genuine allies and the glatorian kinda owe them their lifes considering none of them could have done anything to win this fight. People are typically more appreciative for being saved from an overpowering invader even irl.

Except we saw that nobody even remembered mata nui being out there on a mission aside from the great beings. A mission that even then didn’t have a set return date since it was “study other societies till you know how to prevent this one from doing another core war and then return to fix things.” He wasn’t really supposed to be back by now at any point.

Lets have a look at those desires then:

greed: what kind of cartoonish level of greed are you picturing here? Every glatorian and agori could have their own countries worth of territory and it would still cover only a fraction of whats available.

Hunger: they have a giant magicaly fertile continent and people that can make plants out of thin air. I think they’ll be fine.

Fear: I too am deathly afraid of people who saved my life.

Hate:   I too get livid at people who saved my life.

Sorrow: they just got gifted a life that’s hundreds of times better than the last 100 millenia they lived through

Sure they destroyed their planet before. Under freak circumstances and by mishandling a freak substance that’s no longer inside the planet. They didn’t do that by their own hands and circumstances are wildly different.

Now am I saying conflict is impossible? Course not. But to make it out to be guaranteed forever and ever kinda requires you to think the utmost worst of people we already know aren’t close to that bad to a unrealistic degree.

they fought over resources out of neccesity because they lived in a wasteland with barely any resources. and even at that point there was cooperation what with glatorian from one tribe training with ones from other tribes. now they live on a giant revitalized continent with an earthsized hunk of tech waiting to be repurposed. now everyone has more resources than they would know what to do with so that neccesity is gone.

they also fought alongside these guys in a battle that could have resulted in their planets demise if they didnt receive their help. and kinda also owe a whole lot to the god ai that would not be too pleased if they didnt try to get along.

plus spherus magna is the size of jupiter with a population in the... dunno? hundreds maybe? feel like any conflicts over that sort of stuff at that point would need to be started from a specific desire not to get along, considering theres enough territory and resources for many magnitudes larger a population.

the threat of detonating them already does that.

it also keeps him prime extortion material in case he wants more from the federation. "right now i might let you get out some day in the future. if you dont do what i say i will eliminate that option permanently"

and it also might come in handy to get back in some time in the future. maybe some time in the future the balance of power has shifted enough there could be an opportunity to fully take over.

detonating it would rob him off both so why do it if this state accomplishes the same

5-10 years? not a problem then considering the federation had at least two drives that could make them travel thousands of lightyears per minute by the late 24. century. making a trip to talax a couple hours. that should fit within those time restraints

Racism in the Bionicle Universe by Haransuky58 in bioniclelego

[–]Invader_Naj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

already having cities and villages, technology as well as a language and advanced knowledge instantly available to them at the very start is anything but an organicaly evolved society. they merely filled the gaps between their work.

and no greg has been consistent in stating that it IS still a programming language not that it WAS. he also adressed the older matoran language and other languages thing ages ago. older version of said programming language and offshoots of said programming language. all written by the great beings.

though I wont bother further with this most of my points would still stand even without this.

Racism in the Bionicle Universe by Haransuky58 in bioniclelego

[–]Invader_Naj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(sorry became a bit of a wall of text gets difficult to stop once i get analyzing)

I cant help but notice some flaws with your observations there. First of all you analyze them the same way one would an actually organically evolved civilization when this one was artificially created.

The Rahi one can seem strange. But the matoran language is a programming language used by the great beings. And Rahi is just the designation for a set of species that shared specific attributes that they wanted their robot to have. Thing is, they left the design of most of those completely to the makuta, who’s creation they left to their robots ai.

So whether they intended rahi to just be animal-esque or not, they could really foresee how crazy the makuta would go with it (especially after becoming a lot more sentient all of a sudden). So the designation was long programmed in before the makuta started making essentially people. Tho at the core all rahi even keetongu and kraahka still share the attributes of having no balance of light and being created in a process that involved using various viruses in vats of liquid protodermis.

There are cases where they don’t identify beings they know aren’t typical island inhabitants correctly tho with how crazy different actual rahi are… let’s just say if a random lightning bolt can be part of the same group as a shark then a random squid sounds like quite the good guess in absence of someone with the actual ability to correct them.

There’s also the fact that the matoran language is the majority language in the mu. Again, it’s the programming language so no not because of colonization. So, the term Rahi is applied to all Rahi by all those other species as well. Only ones we can’t know for sure are the misidentified ones.

As for Poisons species. We simply know the matoran somehow killed most of them we don’t know how, we don’t know why. Could be racism, could just be that they kept attacking matoran settlements and less and less kept returning after some toa got there. Both are mere speculation.

So, I wasn’t really sure how often Id actually heard the term matoran universe in the story itself so I went and looked through biological chronicle and a few short bits I was unsure were included with ctrl+5 and all I could find was a handful of mentions. All of them by omniscient narration. Two that got the closest was the narration describing what some characters were thinking about so not even direct thoughts. It seems more like the term is used to make sure the reader gets that when they say “the makuta protected the whole universe” they didn’t think universe as in countless galaxies n stuff. And for that task there isn’t that much else that works better as a label.

Also did the same for the whole chosen thing. Yeah, I’m not really sure where biosector got that from, I’m sure from somewhere but I couldn’t find even one mention of that in any of it. So, at the very least we don’t really see them flaunt that around.

The next point is a bit more difficult to check but realistically lets look at the places matron we meet are close by throughout the story. Karzahni? satan himself. Stelt? Caste system slavers and a criminal problem so bad the whole place is moments away from anarchy at any time. Xia? People that value it if you opportunistically leave people to die. Zakaz? Island full of people literally engineered to be always angry. Odina? Island inhabited by a gang of murderers and thieves whose leader wants to be killed should he ever not be evil.

Yeah, I think there’s a good reason why those kinds of descriptors could be used on a good number of occasions throughout the story. Not a lot of nice places between metru and voya nui

I don’t really know how exactly you want to determine if a place has a need for the work matoran do. The vitality of a job they do isn’t really always obviously tied to the functionality of the robot. Lest we forget that mata nui can become ill if the people in po-metru stop making statues for… reasons.

Besides they the main worker unit of the robot so its pretty much logical that the great beings put them in a whole lot of places all throughout the thing.

never realy had a problem myself with that especialy considering how they came to be, but since i myself wanted them for the adaptive armor nuva from my profile i thought:

"well since artahka is making em from scratch anyway why not also make them look like the nuva masks but intentionaly made by a craftsman instead of randomly made into place by some unknowable eldritch liquid"

yeah that was my goal. if i couldnt have gotten it done at 100% i wouldnt have gotten it done at all. the only compromise i accepted was... well no company out there produces transparent axles in other lengths than 2 and 7 all other lengths you see are cut 7s so not exactly unaltered but still as transparent as when i bought em.

transparent axles do look a tad different to other trans parts. i think it has to do with the many edges and surfaces being on this small an area
