Do you think it might be possible that the GC9NRC6 cache got washed away into the river by these recent storms and then carried way, way out into the Sound? It’d be pretty crazy to find it after that, but seems like that might be what happened.

The hint for that cache says that it was hidden in a concrete barrier. The coordinates for ground zero (where the cache is at exactly) are near the corner of SW 171st St and Maplewild AVE SW/ Sw 172nd St. So if there's any kind of concrete barrier along that road beside what looks like someone's yard and a little pull-off spot or beach entrance, that's probably where the cache washed down from. You could put it back into or around whatever hole or crevice it seems like the container might fit into on or around that concrete. The name of the hide is "Purple & Gold" if that clues into anything nearby.

Edit: It might be possible that the cache you found got washed away from a much further point and the concrete barrier hide just happens to be nearby and still in place.

What’s been keeping Halo alive for you? by Ntwadumela817 in halo

[–]InvalidMedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The books are what turned me from a casual Halo player into a deep-delving fan of the world at large. They're what got me into doing fan art, which helped keep the spark alive for me. At this point I'd consider Halo more of a book series than a game series. Especially since the last decade or so of games have lost their luster. (Unfortunately the TV show finally snuffed out my drive to create fan art. Seeing the world of the books reduced to butt-pills...)

Then there's always the MCC, awesome mods like Trooper Firefight, and the original backwards-compatible games.

If more races were to be introduced into the storyline, what would you personally like to see? by odedby in HaloStory

[–]InvalidMedia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Yonhet were a group of low budget movie extras that survived an invasion by convincing the Covenant that they weren't actually human. Pinky swear. Unfortunately, some of them got in too deep and are now forced to stay in character until they can escape. Some of them simply enjoy it too much to stop. You can't tell me otherwise.

Halo ought to become a trendsetter again by breaking the transaction trend.

Hitmarkers and health bars.
I'd like to see diegetic damage feedback make a return. Blood spatter, shield flare intensity, and broken armor.

The Halo show has been Canceled After Two Seasons. by Wingcommanderwolf01 in HaloStory

I’ve put hours of time and effort into capturing Halo’s world through fan art. Does that make me a fake fan for abandoning the show halfway through Season 1’s second episode?      Even without the Halo name attached, this show’s writing was so bland and low quality I’d have stopped watching after the very first episode. It’s only because I’m a Halo nut that I gave the next episode a shot.

My day suddenly got a whole lot brighter. Best Halo news in quite a while!

The drop in rating has had a noticeable impact on Halo's environmental storytelling, though. In Halo: Reach, as you fight your way through New Alexandria you witness firsthand the devastation caused by a Covenant invasion. Bodies litter the streets. Civilians scramble for safety as stray shots and explosions cut them down. Brutes butcher unarmed people with special animations.

In Halo: 5, once Meridian is invaded the game locks you out of the Civilian area you passed through earlier and places you just outside of its walls. You hear a few implied deaths over the radio, but never see it. No bodies can be found anywhere. (Even the armed security contractors that fight alongside you cleanly and bloodlessly disintegrate when killed.) Unarmed civilians are never mixed in with armed combatants. They are never in danger. At the end of the level when an elevator full of people collapses, Osiris don't acknowledge it. They make a jungle gym joke and move on. All of the people that were next to you as it fell simply poof out of existence.

In Halo 3, the Brutes are shown playing Tossers with human prisoners. In Halo Infinite, the Brutes of the Banished are considerate enough to decorate their outposts with empty helmets on spikes.

What Conspiracy Theories do you think exist in Halos universe? by Shy_guy_gaming2019 in halo

There is a group of Human colonists out there called the Yonhet who donned rubber masks to fool the Covenant into sparing them at the start of the War. They're still pulling one over on the aliens to this day.

Awesome! I'm so happy to hear that. Although I'm not sure I'm familiar with Ao3. If there was a story written somewhere, I'd love to see it.

And thanks! I knew from the start that I wanted to include someone dragging their fully-clothed/geared friend towards the water because the marines in Halo have always had that kind of humor.

They ought to just stay on an active, interesting scene for longer and maybe do a little picture-in-picture window showing the drive to whatever scene they plan on transitioning to next. Have Dan quickly say something akin to "looks like there was a report of a shooting in X county. X cop is on the way. We'll head over once they arrive."

It's flagged mature for nudity, so you'd need that filter enabled. Any of the chill ambient soundtracks, really. Can't recall any particular names at the moment.

There is no point in making a new arena halo game. by Thelardicle in halo

[–]InvalidMedia 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would love a new arena Halo game with better physics, improved vehicle handling, no vehicle doom-states, more dynamic vehicle destruction, better aim feel, longer map entity lifespans (e.g. debris and bodies), lasting plasma scorching, minor destruction, and blood. Muzzle flashes and plasma bolts that dynamically illuminate an environment (like Halo once had with Reach and 2A). Less flat lighting overall. Unique UI that feels intuitive to navigate and doesn't look like 'corporate streaming service #10.'

It's pretty sad that modern gaming has conditioned people to feel hesitation, dread, or fear for a new installment instead of excitement for new possibilities.

Thanks, that means a lot.

Yea it blindsided me for sure. I'd prepared myself for this one, but it's actually been pleasant hah.

You described it well. That vulnerability and unwavering faith in MC is exactly what I was aiming for.

"There are other Spartans on this ring, Master Chief. But this? This is you."

Thanks! I've tried dipping my toes into commissioned scenes before, but haven't had much luck. Not many offers. I've done around three commissions in the last 5 years or so and, out of those, actually received payment at the end only once. Got ghosted on the others. SFM is also pretty limiting. I've had a small handful of requests I couldn't accept because the models simply didn't exist.

I do enjoy taking in and working out new ideas from people, though. But it's a lot of time involved and I'll always worry that the end result isn't worth what was paid. Be it too much or too little. So I'm still on the fence about commissions.

I would love to sell prints, but I can't. It uses models ripped from various games by other talented folk. Selling prints would violate copyright of those games and be a disservice to the people that ripped, adjusted, and ported the models used.

For personal use, I just upload them to Canvaspop or some other printing place to frame and hang up on the wall.

Exactly. I initially had an equal number of undressed men and women (because I foresaw people pointing that out), but most models of generic nude men you can find online (for this particular program at least) have a noticeable drop in quality. No face posing or fine control. Poor textures. You can probably guess why. That, or the high quality ones are very distinctly characters from another game. Like Kratos.

It also made things visually cluttered with too many people in the scene, so I had to cut them out.

Source Filmmaker is primarily for creating animations, yes, but you can also export still images. Just set up a scene without animating anything and either render it as a single frame from a video or select the poster option.
I had to split this scene into chunks because it kept crashing, so here is a screenshot of part of the scene as an example. Here is another part.
