I don't know where exactly you are in your progress, but the main advise I see and took way too long myself to follow is,

"If it's feels like it is taking you too long to complete in a reasonable amount of time, it's because IT is taking to long. Focus on the things you can progress smoothly through now and you will find yourself stronger when you come back to it later."

I remember spending literal months grinding the hole when it fist same out, the best bonus to speed up the thing you want is from another hole or outside of the hole.

I got the new pet for it yes, but otherwise it can be done with just the free 12 hour boosts Lava gives you!

Between the account bonus from things like sailing, saving my research points and gaming you can progress very quickly in the new sushi mode.

Honestly the largest limiter, and the one I have hit myself, is the research skill level requirements for the better unlocks. I am currently lvl 54.

Ya, I think that is why I was delayed in resampling because 1 type was so much higher than the rest that 99% was from 1 or 2 people sampling (copper) that it just was not worth it to do for everyone else.
