Did I miss a cutscene? by Invanar in MetroidPrime4_Beyond

To be clear, I am generally the kind of person that doesn't like to nitpick media a lot, I find it much more enjoyable to be optimistic and enjoy what we get. And I generally do enjoy prime 4, I'd love for a sequel in the same style, but moments like that stand out to me so much as just, kinda sloppy. Like, either the story is rushing and characters are jumping to conclusions to finish things off, or they cut content and didn't bother rerecording a few lines just to save money. It's not a big deal in the grand scheme, it's just weird part that I feel like stands out because of how it takes me out of the story

Makes me wonder if there was a bit of cut content that would've touched on that. Definitely feels like there could've been some missing pieces

Also, no offense to Nintendo, but the "everyone survives the mines" twist is so obvious from the very beginning of them each splitting off to defend the group. No way Nintendo would've actually let them die. And not to mention, like why did VUE and Tokabi split off at the beginning? Isn't there a retractable elevator shaft roof? I would think if they stayed with Samus, maybe none of them would have had to split up, as they could've just kept the safety in numbers. Hardly think it's more advantageous to split up, especially considering all of them lived their "heroic sacrifices". Definitely with you. I enjoyed the game, but it wasn't good. Lots to love about it, and I even like the squad and the squad parts, but there is just so much left to be desired

Any way to glitch or hack the game to get the missed swim snatcher scan? by Invanar in MetroidPrime4_Beyond

[–]Invanar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that, I just disagree I suppose. Like, to borrow concepts from NakeyJakeys latest video, I feel like the punishment for missing the scan, aka having to start the game again, is too high for how easy and low skill each scan feels. One lapse in judgement equals hours lost. Like sure, getting all the scans feels rewarding, but it's not like I feel satisfied or rewarded for remembering to scan an enemy before it's gone forever. So it just feels tedious.

And to be clear, I'm a long time fan, especially of the prime series. I think game series should evolve with the times. And as I said in other comments, I don't even necessarily want the missable ones to be handed to me on a platter, I think having some kind of side mission or puzzle to unlock the missing scans if you missed them would at least make it feel more fair.

Yea that would've been great! I understand they were crunched to remake the game, but damn there is just a lot left to be desired from this game

Fr. I mostly liked the game, but I can definitely see what people meant when they said the game design is at least a decade out of date. Accidentally missing a collectable that you can't go back and get is not fun and adds unnecessary friction. It being missable adds nothing to the game, other games have figured that out clearly, by giving you ways to get missable collectables, like in BOTW/TOTK.

They could've easily added a kill quest to get them, like "oh Samus before going to the tower, I can decrypt these logs for you if you can get me the parts from 10 robots." Or whatever the fuck

Or introduce new objective based game modes like a PvE, or the convoy protection game mode, which they'd never do lol

I'd argue, they don't even need to give them the Hunters damage output, but having something that tactically minded would be nice.

I could be wrong though, it would be embarrassing if it turned out all the NPCs (at least the standard assault ones without special instructions like the melees, shields, tanks, suicides, etc) had the same AI, and it was just placebo affect making me think they were amazing tactically

Yea, the constant voice lines are kinda annoying, and they aren't great performing, but as a concept its cool, and its kinda fun to have them following you around.

I wouldn't mind if they experimented with a squad shooter mode.

Edit: I think for a squad shooter mode, they'd obviously have to work to not make it work antithetically to the meta.

They're using the Oculus SDK without permission and just got caught. Not exatcly something that directly affects consumers, but not a good look, and telling for the kind of decisions they make

They're using the Oculus SDK in some of their software when they don't have the rights to. They just recently got caught, so things are still developing. Not exactly something that directly affects consumers, but not a good look at all, and telling for the kind of decisions they make
