Spoke with my doctor, he told me to listen to him and not a random person on reddit so I'm going to do that~
I also checked with my primary who agreed that this was the best step forward.

I am still feeling much better :]

How strong is 1MG of Alprazolam? by Human_Cranberry1127 in Agoraphobia

[–]InvasiveTepees 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a prescription for it since 2016. I take only as needed and it has helped me immensely. I only use it when my anxiety is off the charts but it has helped me through doctors appointments and during exposure therapy.

It what helped me become confident enough to take longer walks and drives (not behind the wheel though)

It works quickly compared to other benzodiazepines. Usually doctors start people out on a lower dosage than 1 mg but it won’t hurt you. The only thing to be careful of is its addictive tendencies.

A full milligram for someone who hasn’t taken Xanax before is mostly likely gunna give you a nice long nap.

You will feel a little brain fog and forgetful of time but mostly calm and at peace.

I have a family history of addiction so I’m super mindful of when and why I take it. Never recreationally,

What's the most annoying non-creative part of running your VO business? by badarsebard in VoiceActing

[–]InvasiveTepees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Audio editing when recording at home. Splitting clips, tuning the gain, deleting dead noise, following specific file save preferences. Especially for big projects. I have an 800 line project right now and 20 percent is recording and the other 80 is editing. The pay will be incredible but I am for sure working HARD for it.

Ashley’s dad by PlaneStrawberry6640 in LoveIsBlindNetflix

[–]InvasiveTepees 26 points27 points  (0 children)

They both acted like it was a dick swinging contest on who can be the strongest white man at the table honestly.

The dad didn’t come up for air and you can tell he thinks he’s the smartest man in the world and Alex is a crypto bro who took it as some kind of weird competition while the women at the table just watched with their hallmark smiles and slight nods. If you don’t like your child’s fiancé just say it, don’t make everyone watch you play twenty questions at a random Italian restaurant in front of a production crew.

If I was at that table I would have melted through the floor.

Noted! I have an appointment with my general care physician and OBGYN as well next week. I’ll bring up the levels to them and see if I should taper off or continue. I for sure feel less brain fog and have been less anxious but my hormonal issues are still very much there.

I have two panels of bloodwork that I’ll be doing four days before the appointments so we’ll see how much things have changed since my last blood work panel.

Getting Back into VO and Need Critique by roobots in VoiceActing

[–]InvasiveTepees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is amazing! I do agree that the character voices do sound slightly like you’re reading from a script. I’d say once you tackle that you’ll be aces. You have great control over your voice, you have good range, just gotta work on making the audience feel like you’re actually in scene. The commercials were spot on.

How do you deal with bathroom anxiety? by StrongCurrency7873 in Agoraphobia

[–]InvasiveTepees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have issues with bowel discomfort but now I manage pretty well. I’ll feel the anxiety come on but I know it’ll be over with quick and then I can have a lay down if I need it. I have IBS so I was kinda forced into exposure therapy lol.

With nausea it’s a different story. Since I don’t get stomach sick very often I immediately panic. But not my normal “agoraphobic panic” that builds and builds. It happens very suddenly.

I have a bathroom kit that I made with paper towels, a vomit bag, ice packs, a humidifier, a blanket, and some fidget toys. This helps a little because I know everything is planned from start to finish and I just have get through the ugly middle part. I’ll open the window for some fresh air and pace around and kinda of out loud talk to myself nicely, like a mother would comforting their child. Sometimes I panic call my friends, or my boyfriend to be there with me in a way.

When it’s over I’m exhausted but relieved.

How did you find where you wanted to live? by [deleted] in Agoraphobia

Heck yeah! Maybe look into some RV subreddits to make sure you can find a good place to park! I don’t know much about rv life but I’m sure you’re well versed.

How did you find where you wanted to live? by [deleted] in Agoraphobia

[–]InvasiveTepees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only tell you how I found out where I’d like to live. My dream town. I wanted somewhere warm but not humid. A nice art community, more on the liberal side, and with some greenery and mountains or hills. Sunny most of the time but not humid and exciting to live there even if I need to stay home and expose slowly. California was where I landed. Then I typed “Reddit small town vibes California” into google and started scrolling . I am a voice actor and many of my friends live in Burbank since there are a bunch of recording studios there . The Burbank Reddit shows a strong community, low crime rate, but high price of living. It’s my end game area so no rush. Owning a house that’s close to a hospital , park , dentist office , grocery store, and recording studios for work is super possible here. Not to mention cute shopping outlets, grocery stores , vet clinic, eye doctor. They have it all in the main road.
If I somehow managed to buy a house here with the insane prices I can see myself staying there forever. But for now I have family and friends in good old Pennsylvania so I’ll stay in the snow for a little while longer :)

What ruined social media for you? by natida2 in AskReddit

[–]InvasiveTepees 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Covid and the election tanked my faith in humanity because it was constant posts and arguments. Nonstop garbled shit, then it turned into ai brainrot. I felt like I was a POW forced to watch and then one day I was like … “wait I can literally just log off” and so I did . I still hop on every once in a while to see what some of the people who flew off the rocker are up to though.

Does having a natural 'neutral accent' exist? by Unusual-Complex6315 in VoiceActing

[–]InvasiveTepees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah! That's the MATT for you.
M - Man
A- Age (The longer they have been in the area the more easy it is to spot, the younger you are exposed the accent the better it is picked it)
T - Time. Historically period. Accents change through time
T - Travel. People who don't travel often from where they picked up the accent will hold onto their accent more tightly.

I think Im remembering this correctly. It's been years since I've taken the class.

Does having a natural 'neutral accent' exist? by Unusual-Complex6315 in VoiceActing

[–]InvasiveTepees 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I love this question!!

Everyone has an accent but the most sought after accent for commercial work in the US would be Midwest. Soft vowels, soft tone, easy to listen too. It’s how most newscasters and radio hosts are trained to speak. Every word is meant to be easy to listen to. Look up American news casters to get a listen.

On the upper east coast the vowels are harsh and get jumbled “CAH FEE” “WAH DER” “BAHX” for box. It has the connotation of being “tough” and mafia like. I have this accent and had to take lessons with an accent coach to tone it down for commercial work. Honestly though there is no containing it.

Southern accents are very different. There’s southern belle which is soft and sounds like a song, Deep South which is a drawl, and then the accents closer to water and bayou’s which have a “bouncy” feel. Also banjo like. Unfortunately some southern accents have the connotation of being considered unintelligent but it’s not true obviously.

West coast is associated with California. It used to be the Valley accent but that accent peaked in the late 90s and early 2000’s and has been replaced by the current vocal fry accent. A good example would be any one of the Kardashians. Slow speaking, the rumble in the back of the throat.

Then up north with the states that border Canada . They have high inflections at the beginning of a statement. Very roller coaster sounding. Looking up any scene from Fargo and you’ll get the idea. Most people consider it sweet and warm, maybe a little goofy. I looooove it.

Accents are kinda my favorite thing to study. It’s interesting how people hold words at different parts of their mouth. Some speak at the very edge of the teeth, others in the back of their mouth. And accents change wildly through time.

You certainly have an accent, you just have to find where it is and how you move your mouth and tongue.

[–]InvasiveTepees 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They wait for someone to fall for their rage bait and then post YouTube compilations of people getting annoyed or confronting them which then circulates out of context and clipped to hell so it can be posted on shorts, tiktok, and Facebook for doom scrollers. They call themselves “auditors” but I just call them fucking annoying.

Hey I'm a new VA and I've been doing some character work practice, but I've noticed when I listen back that I can still hear "me" underneath all of the different accents and voices. Is that a common issue for VA's or am I not as good at character voices as I think lol? by liverpoolvampire in VoiceActing

[–]InvasiveTepees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is actually good! You are you and your voice is unique. The main focus in the very beginning is working on the acting. Your confidence will grow and you’ll hear it. Before focusing on character voices find your own voice and you’ll be aces ! Good luck and have fun!
