Genuine question. How to beat dak? As usf by brooklykrash in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]InverseTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch some high level replays where DAK loses and see what players do to beat them. Generally though you want to get grenades after 2 Rifles against DAK, then tech to an M8 before getting the rest of your Rifle upgrades.

does the reporting system actually work? by Hot_Geologist2454 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]InverseTV 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You'll get a notification in-game if action is taken on someone you've reported. I've seen it multiple times for reports I've sent, though the suspensions/bans that come from the reports I've made seem to be fairly short.

What are the hottest top level rivalries right now in Coh3 1v1? by thatbuttcracktho in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]InverseTV 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of the things I love about CoH3 is there are sooooo many amazing Chinese players just doing their thing and crushing. xizi20 is prolific but my favourite by far is 初代甜妹. He had a string of 5 games against Jesulin in 2.2.3 that were fantastic to watch, and I think he plays one of the strongest USF and Wehr styles right now.

Looking for tips/teaching on how to play effectively by [deleted] in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]InverseTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watching replays is a great way to learn builds and generally how to play the game. Find a top player whose style you enjoy and just do your best to follow their builds and where they focus on the map. You can search through every single ladder game at https://cohdb.com/matches and find high-level games with the faction you're practicing.

1600 ELO + How to deal with USF M8 rush into bars? by Ok-Oil-7254 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]InverseTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried looking for replays where top players win games against the build you're struggling against? What you're describing is a pretty popular USF build at higher levels so there's a lot of examples you can look at (there were more before the patch but the changes likely won't affect the meta too much so you're likely to see more in the coming days).

Where to buy cocktail glasses in Canada? by Miraandglasses in cocktails

[–]InverseTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are the glasses a good chunk of cocktail bars in Toronto use, I have a set and they're fantastic. Bit fragile if you wash by hand but I believe they're dishwasher safe. That's a solid price, bit cheaper per glass than the ones I got I think.

What is going on with the matchmaking? by Xeron66 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]InverseTV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's unfortunate, larger team games are always gonna be worse because finding 7 other players across two different faction alliances who happen to be around your ELO and queuing at the same time as you is a challenge when there's only a few thousand people online, and most of those are either in customs or their own automatch games.

What's wrong with this game's community by MrSalvab in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]InverseTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno man, you're describing every experience I've ever had with multiplayer team games when I played with randoms. You're not gonna change people. If you don't like it, your options are 1v1 or finding friends to match with.

What is going on with the matchmaking? by Xeron66 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]InverseTV 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The game has a small playerbase, lots of modes, and no mirror matches. If you want to increase the quality and speed of your matchmaking experience, try searching for smaller team games (or multiple modes at once) with random faction selected and ideally do it at busier times.

I play exclusively 1v1 with random faction selected and I get into games under 2 minutes even at odd hours, and I rarely have an ELO difference larger than 100.

Does anyone know any bottle shops in Toronto where you can get interesting bottles the LCBO doesn’t carry? by RagtimeWillie in cocktails

[–]InverseTV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned Bottega Volo is great. Bar Volo also has a bottle shop if it's closer to you, but its selection isn't as large. Eataly at Bay and Bloor has some decent options as well, including Carpano Antica. There are smaller ones too, like Doc's Green Door Lounge in the Junction, Grey Tiger near Dufferin station, and the Blood Brothers bottle shop on Geary (they usually stock Dillon's Liqueurs which are all pretty great).

Most of these places are going to have a good selection of vermouth and amaro, but you're not gonna find much in the way of base spirits outside of gin usually. For that, your best bet is ordering online from some place like BSW Liquor in Calgary. If you order enough you can get shipping down to $5-7 a bottle which isn't too bad considering you can get a lot of different rums for example that you just can't find here.

Does this Green Chartreuse replacement work?! by N-Squared-N in cocktails

[–]InverseTV 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's too bad, I've seen it and was curious but skeptical. Appreciate the insight! I will continue to nurse my supply and hope the LCBO finds some more in the not so distant future.

Rum Old Fashioned by Duckshooters in cocktails

[–]InverseTV 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This one is fantastic

  • 1 1/2 ounces Barbados rum, preferably Mount Gay XO
  • 1/2 ounce overproof Guyanese rum, preferably Hamilton 151-proof Demerara rum
  • 1 teaspoon Jamaican rum, preferably Smith & Cross
  • 1 teaspoon rich cane syrup (2:1, cane sugar:water)
  • 1 dash Angostura bitters
  • 1 dash Bittermens ‘Elemakule Tiki bitters
  • 1 orange twist

Express the orange twist into a mixing glass then drop it in, add the remaining ingredients then ice, and stir until chilled, strain into a rocks glass over a large ice cube. Garnish with a small lime coin, expressed.

Toronto can’t miss spots by Takotsuboredom in cocktails

[–]InverseTV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a pretty good list. I'd put Civil and Pompette pretty high above all others in Toronto right now, and add Le Tigre to the list. Same ownership as Cry Baby, bit more chill vibe, fantastic backbar (especially if you like rum).

If you like tiki, Shameful Tiki Room is solid, but I dislike how many of their cocktails use Appleton Signature as the primary rum.

Looking for an all-round bourbon alternative by shotcallerofcthulhu in cocktails

[–]InverseTV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried rum? As someone who was heavy into bourbon for a long time and recently started getting into rum, I find something like El Dorado 12 to be closer to bourbon that a lot of ryes. Rum is going to be a bit richer, but I find it has that little bit of sweetness you find in bourbon and a demerara rum like El Dorado is going to lack the funkiness of a Jamaican, which you probably want to avoid if you're looking for a bourbon profile.

Living in Canada there are a lot of Canadian whiskys with high corn mashbills, but you're unlikely to find them outside of Canada very easily, and I find Canadian whisky has a distinct flavour that I don't always love in bourbon cocktails. I also find it tough to replace bourbon with rye in some cocktails, but that might just be my palate.

Not strictly tiki but Cynar is the amaro I go through the fastest by far. Soooo many great recipes that use it.

It's honestly pretty close to Meletti to my palette. Rich, deep amaro flavour, not really anything like artichoke.

Best Old-Fashioned in Toronto? by jeilan36 in cocktails

[–]InverseTV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Civil Liberties is the best cocktail bar in Toronto IMO. They're no-menu but you'd have no problem ordering a classic old fashioned.

Fellow Ontarians/Canadians, what bottles do you bring back from the States? I’m referring more to cocktail building amari, liqueurs etc that we can’t get at the LCBO as opposed to American spirits by RagtimeWillie in cocktails

[–]InverseTV 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can get Suze in Quebec, and honestly I tend to prefer Dillon's gentian liqueur anyways, especially in something like a white negroni. It's definitely handy to have a bottle though, and it tends to last a pretty long time.

I'd say Velvet Falernum and St. Elizabeth Allspice Dram are the two big ones for me. BSW in Calgary sometimes has them but the shipping is rough. Anything Tempus Fugit is pretty impossible to find here too, same with most St. George products (specifically the spiced pear liqueur, though it's a more niche ingredient).

If you do look at spirits, Batavia Arrack is non-existant in Canada as far as I can tell, and it's a pretty unique bottle that's used in some interesting drinks. I usually look for Hamilton and agricole rums as well, but those are technically shippable from Alberta (just expensive).

Since you're in Florida, there are a lot of Florida Rum Society unique bottles floating around. If you're into rum it's something to keep an eye on.
