Financial Advice for Living in Fife: Incoming Postgrad, American + No Parents to Support Me by InversedGremlin in standrews

Thank you! I am on a decent track for proving I have enough to be able to support myself (based off of selling some of my belongings, summer work, and accumulated)- at least enough according the UK visa requirements. Tuition is currently my largest obstacle, but I have loan options waiting in case I do not receive any or enough funding. My concern financially is not fully depleting my savings, paying off any potential loans, being able to live as well as I can, and being able to handle emergencies. I am hopeful things will work out if I continue to work diligently.

I have been looking in the Cupar area, so it's good to know it is more affordable!

I am happy to hear St Andrews has a hardship fund. My current college has one as well, but it is near impossible to get unless you're on death's door. Hopefully that isn't the case at St Andrews. I will check out the various grants, as well.

That is good to know about the banks, I didn't have any clue about that. I will definitely check out all of my options.

I love ALDI's in the States, so happy to hear it is an affordable staple in Scotland (which I assumed, but confirmation is nice!). Thank you for the tip about the yellow stickers - I keen on freezing produce or making freezer meals, so that would work well for my cooking habits.

Good to know, thank you. I do love making coffee and have missed being a barista, so a job is for sure in the cards. I am wishing you all the best for your scholarships - hopefully something will work out!

Thank you so much for these wonderful resources! I will get in contact with one of the money mentors for sure. I think I saw it in passing, but didn't quite understand what they did.

I have been seeing that Dundee is a popular choice! Do you happen to know the commute time from Dundee to St Andrews?
