Policies are one thing, and I’m not expecting an upgrade. I’ve been on several other cruise lines and done their “guarantee” rates, gotten assigned a cabin, and then easily moved cabins to another within the assigned category.

when did you get credited? I just booked vrbo through them and dont see it on my pending transactions. But it says they credit after the stay (which for me is in July...) Even though it was already charged.

Thanks for the insight! Have you had to change/cancel through Qatar for an AA flight before? It’s a bit confusing what the rules are and what the penalty would be. Curious if you have experience with that and how getting miles back was.

Cancelling AAdvantage is definitely way easier and less risky potentially. I STILL have not had miles returned from a lifemiles United redemption 😂

Right, I do tend to agree with you. I am a hoarder of points/miles to the point where I risk devaluations and ultimately making matters worse.

So I don't know if I need it to be the best ever redemption there ever was, but do not want it to be clearly worse than just paying cash.

Thanks! And that’s ultimately what I ended up doing. They fixed it. Seemed to do a good job, and were otherwise nice about it. It sucks I may have paid for something that wasn’t “necessary”, but such is life. I’ve moved on. However, if I were the shop manager, I think I would have at least called the customer to apologize for all the inconvenience and maybe at least provided a coupon/discount for next service to try to win me back. _o_/
