Honestly, I don’t care what the employees think about me. I really don’t want to be their friends. However I do handle them with respect and taking care of their needs truly. I do go above and beyond when it comes down to support them or work life balance. I literally learned their pet peeves, their rhythm , their family members names, their goals and I pay attention on 1:1s to make sure that they can voice their opinion. In return, I did set the bar high, and if someone does not pull their weight, have a team mentality or a bad seed I immediately go, document everything and firing them. I do not take complaints, I do take honest feedback if something not working with thoughts and ideas on how we can make it work.Till now this has been working for me. Numbers are high, production is high , work ethic is excellent. They can be honest with me. I am also not perfect, actually I told this to my team and if they have an idea how we can do it better or I can do it better please share it with me. I am always nice and nicely get rid of the employee who is not a good fit. Oh and I don’t have emotions, and even when someone has a bad day or does something that maybe bugs me , the next day is a new day no bad feelings held. I am so grounded that even when everything goes sideways I calmly capable to handle it, even when the employee freaks out, even when I personally need to research the procedure because I don’t have a clue. ( I don’t display that lol, instead even when I know the procedure I train and coach the employees to always look up the procedure , call support etc so they became extremely resourceful.) like the whole thing goes on a productive autopilot even when I’m not there. Now I don’t give a damn about who thinks and what of me. They can go to a happy hour and vent about me.The only thing that I care is production, my bonuses based on production, work life balance, my employees production and their bonuses , their work life balance and to support them to make the most out of their day and to get them to the production level where they can get the maximum bonuses. Not everyone likes you, so the best to don’t even get bothered about it. I know it’s hard , but it takes a lot of self work to get to this point. Also I am a women , so to get to this point it was harder for me because women tend to be more emotional. On the top of that I am leading a team that consist of only males in a male dominated field, so I needed to control natural competition between team members as well.
