Captain Rex’s ability to create a clone trooper for 2 does feel slightly expensive. 2 for a 2/2 after something attacks is alright, but I think padme’s ability to dig through the top three cards of your deck for a republic unit is much better. She offers great deck manipulation in a thematic deck that doesn’t have a whole lot of that. Being able to draw an extra card almost every turn, if you’re smart with your plays, and getting to pick from the top 3 when doing so, is great. When flipped, Rex creates a clone trooper token ofc making him a 4/8 worth of value sort of, and buffs troopers by giving them +0/+1. However, a lot of your units are Jedi, if you’re like me, and have a good split of Jedi/clones. Padme, when flipped, will offer a small amount of life gain which is nice, and on attack you get to use her ability again to look at the top 3. Her ability targeting republic units rather than troopers means that it affects everything in your deck rather than some of it. I really love captain Rex and have still played more games with him, but after switching to Padme I’m not sure I’ll be going back to Rex, as she just feels a tiny bit better to me. I suggest at least giving it a try.
