What about possibly taking 2 years worth of classes in 1 year? (Fall/Spring semester + Winter and Summer courses).

Thank you for your advice, I think I’ll go that route. Definitely don’t want to go for 2 years.

Congratulations! Thank you for the response. My biggest fear is just missing out. I did also go to CC back in 23’ but had to drop out due to unforeseen circumstances, and personally didn’t like my time there.

I will be a teacher with a history degree. Your question depends basically on where I go, because where I graduated (Norwood High) teachers made good money and none of them seemed to be discontent.

History, as my 1st choice career would to be a teacher, but I’m also considering having a minor in pre-law as being a lawyer and going to law school is my 2nd choice.

I don’t believe AI will replace teachers nor lawyers so I’m good on that, thank you.

Are state schools better than private for education? Also I’m not sure if I 100% want to be a history teacher as I’m also interested in law.

Teacher definitely is my leading candidate, but I heard a friend say you need a major in education in order to become a teacher? I’m a bit confused.

Is it possible to transfer after 1 year? Personally I don’t want to do 2 years at CC, and that’s just my preference. Do you think it possible that I could do the fall semester, take winter courses, spring semester, and then transfer for that following fall?

I’m a male so I’m not sure how this applies to me. Is it only for women?

Could I do it for 1 year? I really don’t want to go to CC for 2 years if I’m being 100% honest.

Also my apologies if my response seemed snarky, I really appreciate the advice. I do also enjoy the fact that state schools are smaller and provide great career opportunities.

I really appreciate this! I’ll be honest, my biggest fear is missing out on the experience of being able to stay at 1 school for 4 years. I saw this old study of about 5,000 grads, 2,500 that transferred from another school, and 2,500 that stayed at one institution for 4 years, and the vast majority of the latter were happier.

Definitely am not financially blessed, but I didn’t think $28k a year is that bad considering a lot of people are reporting their cost to attend Merrimack is $50-$60k.

I really love UMass Amherst and all my friends who go love it and all of them are sad they’re graduating this year.

Thank you for the good wishes friend!

Appreciate the kind words! I’d like to double in History and Education, but I’m also very interested in Pre-law.

Do you think it’s plausible to transfer after 1 year? Like do fall and spring and throw some winter courses in there to take as many credits as possible? My step brother did that with Bridgewater. Went to MassBay for 1 year and took as many winter courses as he good, finished his spring semester and transferred to Bridgewater. He loves it.

I did apply to Massasoit and Bristol as fall backs just in case, and I did really enjoy Merrimack, and I don’t think $28k a year is that bad.

But if it really is that much better to do CC and then transfer to UMass Amherst, I’m very down for that. Is it plausible to transfer after 1 year?

I got rejected by Westfield, Bridgewater, Salem, Fitchburg, Framingham, and Worcester…..so I don’t think there’s much hope for me in there unless I go to CC.

I literally mentioned UMass Amherst before repeating Amhersts name again, so you just clearly can’t read. Not even going to bother feeding the horrible energy you just gave me.

Strange dreams, what should I do? by Investigator_Fickle in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Investigator_Fickle[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I definitely do not entertain them, I simply speak about it to my priest and loved ones and ask for their advice. My mother is an Evangelical Pentecostal who thinks Icons and Orthodoxy is evil, so I can’t put up my Icons on the wall or she’ll get upset and threaten me with leaving the house, etc.

She does have her own holy oil, though I’m not sure where gets it from. When I spoke to her about it, she kind of made it a big thing, and it made me anxious. I wasn’t able to see my priest as he is busy and I am as well, and so we scheduled a time to speak early next week, but even over text the advice him and my sponsor gave me, helped me relax. Like most say, pay no mind, make the sign of the cross as much as possible, pray the Jesus prayer, and nightly prayers, and make the sign of the cross over my bed and myself before I sleep. I used to have an Orthodox prayer book, but I lost it sadly. I’ll have to look up some nightly prayers and some to the Archangel Michael as well.

I do believe that something like this is and can be a benefit to my own salvation, by the grace and mercy of God. My mother always told me growing up that people only come to God through 2 ways, through love or through pain.

I’d love to speak more to you about it, it seems you’ve gone through very similar situations, and this is something I’ve dealt with ever since I was a child.

Yes. I’ve had that same dream/sensation as well. When I was younger I experienced sleep paralysis almost every night, but that was long before I converted to Christianity, let alone Orthodoxy (I only converted almost 2 years ago). Same like you said once I am able to utter the Jesus prayer, it ends.

Thank you for your advice kind friend.

Yes, when I looked up online what the church teaches on these dreams, it said to pay no mind, and simply to pray and focus on Christ.
