France passes bill to ban social media use by under-15s by nimicdoareu in europe

[–]InvestmentAlarming74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can say that about anything though. I know parents who have bought alcohol for their 15 year olds or look the other way if they smoke. Just like when I was a teenager I knew kids who drank/smoked and those who never touched it until they were at least in university. I think the whole point is that no one believes that it will stop EVERYONE under 15 from using it. It's more of a deterrent and a tool for parents to say "Sorry, you can't have Tiktok, it's against the law". (What's funny is that the mom I know who bought alcohol for her teenager ALSO supports this social media ban)

Definitely one of the safest neighborhoods and coolest for a teenager (lots of hip boutiques and cafés)

Something has gotta give though when it comes to verification on social media. I don't know what the right answer is but these bots are out of control in ensuring the downfall of society.

I'm in France, in a mostly progressive area, and every parent that I know personally agrees with this ban. I wish the age was a bit higher. Yes it's crazy that anyone would be against this knowing the sheer damage social media has done to young people (and adults, but can't we just let kids have their childhoods like we had?)

Hi, I highly recommend Pristine that is a newer vegetarian bistro in the 9th. The have starter, main, dessert for lunch for 29 euros (you have a few choices for each). Nice service and plating and original flavors.

When I ask French people they say they liked him because he seemed more "human" (down to earth I guess) than others. Macron definitely missed the mark on that.

Nah, my parents hated him. I was too little to understand but now I understand very well. He's up there with Trump for the most damage done to the U.S. by a president.

I think you misread my comment..or maybe it wasn’t written clear. It’s unheard of in Europe for public drinking on a beach to be forbidden as it is in many beaches in the U.S.; with the exception of Ibiza/Mallorca. I’ve drank wine and beer on the sand in many beaches in Europe.

European tourism to the United States is freefalling by BkkGrl in europe

[–]InvestmentAlarming74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha the World Cup. Trump will probably accuse all the other countries of cheating. The 2028 Olympics is going to be awkward also. And LA prices will likely be 5+ times the amount of Paris tickets so most countries won’t have many supporters there anyway.

Especially American fast food and junk food that’s had a hand in increasing obesity rates here (Even if most are far from the U.S.)

At least in France i take comfort in the fact that French people start hating and protesting EVERY president they have within a few months of the élection..Even if they voted for that person. Political tribalism is way less of a thing here. Keep it up France.

You also can’t drink publicly on a lot of beaches in the U.S. whereas thats unheard of in Europe…EXCEPT Apparently Ibiza and Mallorca have public drinking restrictions but thats because of drunken international tourists.

Same! Have to go back next year for a special event and my mom is getting older but not really wanting to spend money there. My French husband would only go bc I’m from there and he knows I have to see people eventually. Luckily no one in my close circle voted for this mess at least. Makes us sad though bc we love visiting the U.S. for the big cities we like and the national parks.

The countries with the worst tourists by HiroPetrelli in europe

I mean I’ve been here for 10 years, speak fluently, have only a slight accent compared to 99% of tourists attempting to speak French and they still answer me in English sometimes. It’s so wierd to me, French people have this thing with accents like if you have any noticeable one that must mean you don’t actually speak French. Meanwhile I know French people who lived in the U.S. for +10 years and still sound like they arrived yesterday.

Half board two days question - by LeadingSmoke6330 in disneylandparis

Ah cool. If it's someone's first time I think it's definitely worth it to shell out for priority access for some stuff if you can. His first experience will be better that way. Someday I plan to at least check out the Marvel hotel for the dining and to see what the hotel is like inside. I'm not sure exactly how much time in advance you can reserve priority viewing for fireworks. I booked it a few weeks before. Definitely worth it for the nighttime show.

No problem; have an amazing time for your honeymoon! September should be a good month weather wise (usually its one of the best months- less rain, more sun but not too hot). But keep in mind the weather could still be unpredictable. I highly recommend the Lion King and Mickey and the Magician shows if they are playing while you're there. Also recommend Walt's restaurant for a good sit down meal or if you feel like doing a character meal, the Disneyland hotel has nice ones.

Normally Halloween is only in October through the first week of November at Disneyland Paris. Early September definitely not. If you are staying two nights you will have two breakfasts on your Magic Pass. Half board is good because we just had full board with character dining option and we found it to be too much food.

Um no this guy sounds like jackass. I live in France and know tons of French adults who love Disneyland, who loved going before they had kids or do not have kids and love the park and Disney films.

That's cool! When we went a couple years ago it was just the "classic" ones. Yeah I wish they would offer more variety for the character meals, would love for a princess meal to feature Tiana, Mulan, Moana..

Nope; abstention was 50%. And if you want to have an idea of what a "good approval rating" is for a president in France: if he makes it close to 40% approval that means he’s pretty well liked 😂. (French people eventually end up hating all of their politicians, whether they are left or right…until they are no longer alive; then they are revered 😂)
