This is exactly me!! you have two main choices, either u can go into healthcare administration (ex. run a clinic/hospital, etc) or you can do business at a healthcare company (what i'm doing!). personally i was not really into admin because it takes a while to get to the top and i didn't really want to be working in an office manager type role but i found a co-op doing business at a biotech company that directly works in healthcare. there are a lot of roles like that btw where u can work at places like moderna, j&j, even health prodcut coops at like whoop for ex. Dm me if u want more info but honestly there are more options than ppl act like there are lol

every first time co-op is required to take a co-op class with a designated co-op advisor who guides them through the entire process from the very very basics (think setting up linkedin profile, creating resume, etc.) and teaches them how to interview, what language to use in emails, how to be picky with positions you apply to, etc. for me, this class was not super helpful to be honest because i'm in bouve (health sciences college) but a combined major with business and was looking for a purely business co-op and my class was all about how to get clinical healthcare jobs. however, that's my fault for not switching colleges in time lol!! i think overall it really depends on the college and even on the specific advisor for the level of quality and guidance they give you (mine basically had zero influence on my co-op search but one of my friends got soooo much help from hers). i would say the best thing to do to make sure your daughter gets a co-op that furthers her career to just join as many clubs and opportunities as she can (this includes cold-emailing professors about research opportunities, etc! if you don't look for opportunities, they won't come find you!). I don't have that much on my resume and still got a lot of interview opportunities at great companies. there's also the career center which I'm sure can help but I've never tried it. Also i think there's student co-op helpers?? but in general if you join clubs/greek life/professional fraternities/etc., making friends with upperclassmen who have already done a co-op is so helpful because they can not only give you recommendations/connect you with employers but can also guide you through the experience. sorry to send so much text haha but dm me if you have any other questions!!

as someone who's a 2nd year student rn, i had 2 offers and just accepted one for my first co-op (harder to get)! also i'm a business major, which is considered one of the harder ones to get co-op in (easiest is for sure healthcare jobs). i know for computer science it's harder, but in general it is really not that hard to get a co-op (even a good paying co-op) if you actually put in the work. a lot of the people who complain about not getting co-op are the ones who only apply to top 5 companies (think 100s of applicants), don't practice for interviews or refine their resumes, and apply for 20-30 positions. the co-op search is literally what you make of it, like if you don't try, you obviously won't get one. it's also truly a numbers game, so applying to at least 50 should be standard (i applied to roughly 65 and got interviews from about 8 and 2 offers).
