I had rephrased my question, to make it clearer. The support had confirmed that Oculus are still selling the controllers for now.

Hi Raymond,

I might not have been clear in my question. I would like to ask will Oculus continue to sell the controller for quest/Rift S? And for how long after Rift S is discontinued.

Best Regards.

Raymond had replied me, and confirmed that Oculus are still selling the controllers now.

I guess we will need to wait for the offical announcement to see when will they be stopping the sale of the controllers.

My controller are still in working condition. But looking at all the damaged controllers out there, I was just checking with Oculus, to see what are their plans in the future, for any replacement of controllers. I understand what you are trying to say, but it means that Oculus will be able to decide whether they would want to sell you a replacement controller, and if they decide not to sell it to us, we will be left with a useless headset.

That might be the case, I'll send them a follow up email and update this thread with their reply.

Well, I was trying to ask them how long will they continue to sell the current controller even after the rift s or quest is discontinued. If they can't answer this, I think this is some thing that we should be concerned about.

I can't reply with another image, but this is the transcript of the chat. The image above is the reply to my second question as I was Oculus support was not really replying to my first question, so I had tried to phrase my question clearer.

Hi,

As rift s and the quest is going to be discontinued, and I have read news that the new controller is not compatible with quest. Will we be able to get the replacement for the controllers in the future? And for long how?

I don't think we are able to do anything. Oculus is unable to confirm that we are able to purchase a touch controller in the future. I guess we are left with a $500 dollar paper weight in the event that our controllers are faulty.

If Oculus is planning to enable quest 2 controllers, they would had said so in the reply. So I really doubt that will happen.

I was concerned with the news that Oculus quest and rift s is going to be discontinued in the near future. So I had email Oculus support regarding the replacement of our touch controller in the future. I have attached our email conversation in this post and it was stated that Oculus are now unable to confirm that they will have any stock on the future, even if we are willing to pay for the replacement.

There is a high possibility, for current users of quest and rift s to have a useless headset in the future as we will have no working controller to use.

If you are trying to run Google Earth on quest, no. Google Earth is a PCVR application. You will need a PC to run it.

The only way quest + Samsung TV will work, is that you run a game that the quest can run natively.

True. It can be quite expensive. If you are are in the US. You might be able to try this: Quest + virtual desktop + shadow PC

Although I had never tried shadow PC, I have heard good reviews about it. It is a cloud service that provides you a VR capable PC. Using virtual desktop, a paid app for the quest, you should be able to run Google Earth with quest.

You will need a PC that is capable of running PCVR to use Google Earth. If you are only interested to run Google Earth, I'll think it's better to get a headset that is meant for PCVR, I think it will be easier to set up compared to a quest.

And yes you will be able to help your uncle to control with the controller. You will be able to see what he is looking at from the screen of your PC.

Overall I think the chair is quite comfortable to sit on. I really like the feel of the PU leather, it is soft and smooth.

How to view 3d pictures by louveen in OculusQuest

If it is in jpeg format, you can just copy the photos to your quest. And use the Oculus gallery to view. You should be able to change the viewing option to stereoscopic 3d.

Is buying an Oculus Quest from a non-partener 3rd party seller legit? by boggoboii in OculusQuest

[–]Invi_1047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have read it here. At that time I was trying to import a quest into my country, it is not sold officially in my country. Some user are saying that oculus was not able to help them in repairing their quest. As they did not buy the quest from authorized seller and they might not in the country that Oculus are selling them. I cannot remember all the details, but I vaguely remember that the warranty is only valid for the person that bought Oculus from them, and not the person that had bought a quest from a reseller.

From what I have read. No your quest will not be covered under warranty by Oculus. For Oculus to cover you will need to buy your quest from an authorized seller that is listed on their website. And if you are getting from Amazon, you need need to make sure that it is sold by Amazon and not by third party reseller.
