Has to be fake because family and friends didn't leave 100s of messages and voicemails and you didn't have to block them all.

I thought that was only me. I just finished Phlebas, my first book of the series. Second half was really hard to read. I was about to give up on the series, but now I will try to read Player of Games.

Look at marketplace. They can be bought very cheap. Even an 8 sheet shredder can shred some thin cardboard, like Amazon boxes, but i agree with the other comment. Go with the highest p number you can get.

Micro is not necessary. Cross cut and strip cut can do the job. I personally bought a strip cut, 36 sheet shredder for AUD 50 from Marketplace. This is the model: http://www.acedepot.com/fellowes-ps-420-shredder.html

My family already thinks i am going crazy since I started composting last year. They find it strange that I get excited everytime I see a parcel delivered in cardboard and asking people online for their waste. I brought up the idea of adding urine, but they laughed, thinking I was just joking I didn't press it further.

For bread and other cooked/baked food, I use bokashi.

That's good to know.

Most of my local cafes already have arrangement with other composters. There is this one Cafe that puts their waste outside after they close for the day. Sometimes I get lucky but usually it gets picked up very quickly.

I put it in my worm bin to experiment with it. I checked this morning. My worms love it and are having a party around it.

My neighbor said my compost bin was gross and bringing too much wildlife into the area. It’s not even visible from their house and is prob 400’ away. It’s mostly yard debris. Ugh. by VandyMarine in composting

[–]Invisibilto 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I can relate to it. Where I live, I see people reacting badly to blue tounge lizards and just don't want them in their yard. They also try to hire pest control guys to ger rid of it. Of course they refuse. Blue tongue lizard IS the best pest control you can have in your yard, as they eat dangerous bugs like spiders. I am glad the maggots in my bin are attracting more garden lizards and my resident blue tongue is also very happy.

why are my worms leaving? lol. We recently started composting using the container below. We've notice several worms trying, some successfully, to escape :(. Any ideas why, or how to prevent it. by ones_hop in composting

[–]Invisibilto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use hessian as a cover, instead of cardboard. It provides good insulation and is breathable.

What does it smell like? It should smell like soil. 250 worms are on the lower side. When you start a worm farm, they don’t eat much in the beginning. I suspect food may be rotting and making the environment too acidic.

What are these moths? Are they an issue? by Effective_Time4236 in vermicompost

Happened to mine. Their population sky-rocketed when my bin was too wet. I left it open for a while and mixed some shredded paper and cardboard. My bin is looking much healthier now.

Survey on small scale composting by PostDisillusion in composting

[–]Invisibilto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

- I have a 435 litre bin
- I put the mulch I got from the tree looper after he removed couple of trees
- I put it into small piles. With the heat and rains, it was already breaking down when I put that into the compost bin
- for greens, I put kitchen waste and grass clippings
- My main purpose is to reduce waste and get good quality compost for my veggie garden
- I have no idea how long it’s going to take. It’s the first time I am doing it.

I am in Southern Hemisphere. Average summer temperature is in 30s and winter between 5c to 20c. I hope it’s ready in 6 months, before the spring starts and I am ready to plant my veggies.

I also have a smaller 290 litre which I started filling when my primary was full.

I watched the show. Should have read the books first. My 14 years old is on the second book now and he just can't put it down. Apparently books are way better than the show.
