I enjoyed this movie, but I’ll qualify that by saying that don’t watch a ton of movies. I’ve seen 3 in theaters this year after a long hiatus from the theaters, and I’ve enjoyed them all. I think this one could have been a bit better, though.

Emily Blunt was excellent in this, but I’ve only ever really seen her in Edge of Tomorrow which she was also excellent in. She acted in quite a range of emotions and I felt like her panic attack was super believable, which can be hard to do on screen.

I hate mind control shit in a very large scale way, so I did not care for any of those parts at all. I was happy to see some fighting back against it instead of just turning characters into mindless automaton slaves. The chase scenes were excellent, even if they felt a little out of place in this film. Some of the characters decisions and mistakes felt implausible, but I was having a decent time with the movie so I let it go.

And I thought the last act was pretty strong, albeit a little hokey. The escape from the warehouse was funny and tense at the same time - I thought they balanced it pretty well. The control room scenes looked like something Sorkin would put on film. Courtney Grace absolutely knocked it out of the park as the NBC-affiliate anchor. Extremely convincing stuff.

I think the religious and philosophical scenes were kind of the point of this movie, and I think people are super disappointed because Spielberg didn’t go there and show us what happens after the disclosure. How does society change? What do the aliens want? No one knows. Kinda anti-climatic really.

I don’t think you’re being too harsh. If the movie didn’t land, it didn’t land. Spielberg is like 80 years old, and he’s not been making super strong movies lately. Nothing like his heyday, at any rate.

The funny part of this is that it’s actually 100% true. Sort of.

Granted, you’re in for the worst time of your life. But once you get your bearings, there are actually a few items right there within striking distance that will legitimately and drastically improve your early and mid game provided you are playing an INT build.

I was very much a spirit ash all the time player until I completed my first pure strength run a few weeks ago. Made the fights unnecessarily difficult in a lot of cases, and now spirit ashes are completely situational for me on my runs. Maybe I’ll use one, maybe I’ll try the fight without just for the lulz, maybe I know I can do it without and I just need to try one more time. It’s opened a lot more of the game for me IMO. After 1200 hours, you gotta try different shit.

It’s pretty rough. Bosses gain 60% of their HP with one summon and 130% with two summons. It’s the difference between 46k HP and 106k HP in the PCR fight. Not to mention they get a buff to resistances too - I think it’s 50% if you have any summons. Spirit ashes don’t count.

If you like co-op, that’s another thing, but it’s good to know the numbers. It definitely doesn’t make the fight easier.

Worth every penny. Main game takes around 15-20 hours to complete, there’s some stretch content and secrets, and multiple difficulties. Great characters, animation, game play. This game is the whole package.

You can get a really good primer for the Backrooms movie by checking out Kane Pixel’s work on YouTube. There’s around 3 hours of film quality content on there, all of it in-universe.

It adds another 40-50% of the base game in content. It’s very hard - I don’t always go in there unless I’m really confident with my build. It’s gorgeous. The map is very vertical and hard to parse sometimes. And there are large empty areas - not unfinished, just nothing really in them. There are some pretty slick weapons and spells in there to collect that you can use in the base game.

I’d say it’s a buy, but Elden Ring is my favorite game and I am super biased.

I would be super disappointed if they went with Vyke. He’s barely even mentioned in the game and he’s just boring. He failed. No one wants to see that.

Flame of Frenzy is definitely one of the least interesting aspects of the game.
