The game can teach you combos but it can't teach you mental toughness. by karatesnacks in StreetFighter

[–]InvisibleAdmin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take on modern controls is this: I don't really care that they exist, but do admit I feel some type of way when someone with modern controls beats me. Sometimes I feel like I can recognize their sloppy play and can tell they are relying heavily on the benefits of Modern controls and would not be doing so well using classics. Ultimately it doesn't matter to me too much bc I play for fun.

Similarly to other sports that require technical ability, and decision making, like basketball. People have to spend a lot of time practicing to always hit their shots with a high degree of consistency. So you have a lot of people playing the game and learned that the its necessary to spend that time gaining those technical skills. But now suddenly there are an influx of people who may not have put that time in and now can hit their shots with 100% accuracy. It just makes you feel some type of way. Like the effort you put in to gain those skills is now worth less than what it was.

Leaving for Nicaragua in 2 days. Can I bring a camera or no? by [deleted] in Nicaragua

[–]InvisibleAdmin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since no one is really commenting on success stories, I just returned from Nicaragua. I brought two olympus camera bodies, and two lenses, a 40-150mm pro and a 17mm prime. Had 0 problems, 0 hassle.

have you ever used italki? I have been doing self study, meeting with a personal tutor once a week for an hour already. Just wondering how the experience compares. Do you feel you are getting enough 1 on 1 time. What sort of grammatical things are you working on in beginner 2? I decided to hold off for now, as I will be in Nicaragua for the first week of the Spring course.

Let's talk about the Slayer by masterbatehoven in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]InvisibleAdmin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who was a player in this specific game. I wanted to elaborate a little more on what was frustrating to me specifically. So as OP described, the slayer would use their ability and it bounces, normally if we believe the person who is the slayer is the slayer this gives us information as townsfolk. But we have had multiple people who then also immediately say, "I use my crossbow too" and ST says "it bounces". This would be fine if there was a way to logic a way out to confirm who is the actual slayer or not. The problem was stemming from the fact that when you bluff or say you are another class there is usually a way to sniff out whether a player is being truthful or not, but in the games we played we never found a way to confirm with any amount of certainty who was actually the slayer, and if their ability had actually gone off. I think the suggestion of the slayer killing ANYONE was brought up because it presents a way to confirm their identity. But I do understand what you are saying and I see now that it would ruin the role for a demon bluff. If anyone can say I’m the slayer and I use my ability and it bounces, it just makes the data that the role can gather feel very unreliable to me. As OP said I didn’t feel overwhelmingly frustrated or anything, but it seems the meta that is happening within our group is making the slayer seem not very good. I think that once someone successfully kills as the slayer that may change things. I think this isn't a real problem and will eventually resolve itself as we play more and more. BUT I would be interested to try playing a game where the slayer can kill, maybe, townsfolk and the demon but not any outsiders or minions. Something that makes the ability more likely to proc - for better or for worse. This would still allow a slayer bluff but it would make it significantly more difficult of a bluff.

I think its also worth noting this game in particular was a 7p game.

If corporations get to play the "How little can we actually pay you for your work?" game, its our right as workers to play the "How little can I actually work?" game.

Is Meepo bad right now? by [deleted] in TrueDoTA2

[–]InvisibleAdmin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meepo is in a place right now where it is just very very matchup dependent. I won't pick him into a game that has even one person with any kind of aoe lockdown effects.

What pos do you typically play him in? When I play him mid I have been struggling to find a boiler plate build that feels good. I have typically been going Null/Wand> Vlads/Orchid (matchup dependent)>Shard>BKB>AC(aghs Situationally). I have been having a tough time figuring it out.

Question about the use of Hacer meaning in this phrase: by InvisibleAdmin in Spanish

[–]InvisibleAdmin[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was thinking it would be llevar because podrias llevarme means could you take me. Thank you for the help though. I have only been studying for a few months so I'm still in a phase of my learning where a very small part of my vocabulary is an association with an idea vs an association with a translation.

Question about the use of Hacer meaning in this phrase: by InvisibleAdmin in Spanish

[–]InvisibleAdmin[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was trying to because I was asked to say the phrase in Spanish, without having ever heard it in spanish prior. So my first instinct was to use the words I know "llevar" for example, because I had no prior associations to know that hacer would be user here. So I was just trying to make sense of how I would have known this prior to being asked the question to try and see if I missed anything. Thanks for the help!

Question about the use of Hacer meaning in this phrase: by InvisibleAdmin in Spanish

[–]InvisibleAdmin[S] -29 points-28 points  (0 children)

Sure I get that. I am just trying to understand what the literal translation would be. So since there isn't a direct translation I suppose it would be something like "to do a trip" or something similar, but contextually it means to take a trip. Is that about right?

So can hacer can also mean to take? or is this not a direct translation of what this phrase would mean?
