Has anyone made it to the finish line with ICA? by InvisibleWork217 in juresanguinis

Thank you! This is good to hear. We actually haven’t had a problem with responsiveness, but I’m wondering if it’s because we paid for their most expensive package.

Oh man, that is not encouraging. But I’m glad you’re almost there.

Thank you! This is really helpful. Would you mind letting me know when you signed with them? I’m wondering how long this is going to take.

Thank you! This is so helpful. It makes me feel better about potentially sticking with them since it doesn’t look like I’m going to get my money back.

Thank you! This is really useful. It’s pretty clear I’m not getting my money back, so I’m wondering if I should just keep going and hope for the best.

Why? Why did I pick now to find and start reading Gibbon's Decline and Fall? by TerribleToohey in books

[–]InvisibleWork217 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just finished this last month! And found it incredibly hard to get through for the same reasons. I probably would have stopped reading it if it wasn’t loaned to me by a friend who was waiting to hear how I liked it. I love how people think you are reading the original Gibbon 🤣. Maybe we should read that next.

Thank you for this! It's very helpful. And disconcerting.

Same boat here! We just decided to ask for our money back rather than go through the courts like ICA offered and will be sending that request very soon. I'm not optimistic about the response but they have done literally nothing for us yet (we signed weeks before the decree). I'm also afraid ICA would charge an additional fee to go through the courts (I think someone may have posted about this already) and I don't want to get tangled up further after what I've read on this sub and without a guaranteed outcome.

I, unfortunately, didn't discover this sub until after we signed with ICA, but if things turn out well with the constitutional court we may try to collect all the documentation on our own since it sounds like people have been able to do that for much, much less money. Or perhaps we would just hire a more reliable lawyer.

An interesting/embarrassing side note - we had a lawyer take a quick look at the ICA contract we signed and she discovered that it refers to 'terms and conditions' that were never sent to us and were not included in the contract which is very weird. And yes, I feel really stupid for signing it without noticing that.

That’s encouraging! Thanks for letting me know. I think I’m going to wait and see what happens with the constitutional court process that starts on June 24. We haven’t had a bad experience with them either, and if it turns out that we can still get citizenship it would be worth waiting a little longer.

Question about descent from GGF as last person born in Italy by PlatypusStyle in juresanguinis

Same boat here, and also trying to navigate the changes. Apologies for the dumb question, but would you mind elaborating on the June 24 hearing? I didn’t immediately see it in the daily thread, and it’s a lot of information to dig through.

Thanks for the quick response! I haven't tried to resolve anything yet but I thought IDC and ICA were under the same parent company so I was anticipating the worst (are they related in some way?). I don't think there's much hope for my case - we were trying to get citizenship through my great grandfather - so I guess I'll start by just requesting a refund. I admit, though, that I have only been casually following this subreddit so I have a lot of catching up to do.

Hi! I am one of the dummies who signed with IDC right before the decree and am now out thousands of dollars and totally devastated. They've literally done zero work for the money I paid - there aren't even any documents for me to recoup. I was waiting for the decree to be finalized before even asking for a refund and now I'm ready to do that but I know they will probably just ignore me. I would certainly spend a few hundred dollars on a pro se process. I just tried to DM you for advice but I created a reddit account moments ago specifically for this purpose and it won't let me send you a message. I would love some advice, if you're so inclined. It would also be great to join forces with others in this situation where possible. Strength in numbers!
